Day 2

Caracol

Discovered in 1938 and later explored in the 1950’s, Caracol was thought to be little more than a Maya ceremonial center.  It was not until more extensive excavation efforts began in 1985 that the importance and expanse of Caracol became known.  In 1986, a round, elaborately carved altar stone was uncovered which described a victory by Caracol over Tikal, once considered to be the most powerful Maya metropolis.  This discovery filled an important missing piece of Maya history, covering approximately 140 years in the Middle Classic period, and positioned Caracol as the “Supreme” Maya city.  The largest pyramid at Caracol, the Canaa,  (Maya for “sky place”) rises 140 feet and is the tallest man made structure in all of Belize.

Caracol is located 2 hours south of San Ignacio, in the Maya Mountains.

Day 3

Day at Leisure

A good opportunity to explore the property’s Blue Morpho Butterfly Exhibit or their Maya Organic Farm. Of course a visit to the Infinity Swimming Pool is also time well spent.

Day 4

Transfer to San Pedro on Ambergris Caye

Today you transfer by land to Belize City pier (2.5 hours) and then by ferry (approx. 90 minutes) to San Pedro on Ambergris Caye. After arrival in San Pedro, the rest of the day is at leisure

Accommodation: Victoria House Hotel

Delightfully chic, private, and located near the world-renowned Belize Barrier Reef, the Victoria House Resort and Spa offers outstanding accommodation in a lush tropical setting with stunning views over a white-sand beach and colourful gardens.

Duration4 Nights
Day 5

Day at Leisure

Relax and enjoy the tranquil surroundings of Victoria House today or perhaps take a short trip into San Pedro. Unique shops, bars, clubs, restaurants, plus hundreds of golf carts driving around town create the vibrant and fun-filled entertainment that is San Pedro. It’s going to be a day of leisure that you’ll enjoy immensely.

Day 6

Snorkeling Hol Chan & Shark Ray Alley

The Hol Chan Marine Reserve is one of the most impressive snorkelling sites in the world, and is known as the most exemplary protected area in the country and the region. Just about 4 miles south of San Pedro Town, a short 15-minute boat ride, Hol Chan, Mayan for “little channel” and “quebrado” in Spanish, is home to over 160 species of fish, along with nearly 40 species of corals, 5 sponges, 8 algae, 2 seagrasses, 3 marine mammals and 3 species of sea turtle. Schools of jacks, groupers & snappers come to greet you as guests, as you are guided off to the channel’s edge where vibrant coral forms crevices and an overhang where green eels and lobsters dwell.

And just a short 5-minute boat ride from it lies the second site visited, "Shark Ray Alley” which was later included into the protected area system, after Nurse Sharks and Southern Stingrays started frequenting the area.

Upon your arrival, these inquisitive creatures will politely come to greet you, expectant of you joining them for a swim. This is where you get to live the lifetime experience of swimming with large numbers of nurse sharks and sting rays. Schools of fish such as horse eye jacks will also accompany you as you discover more juvenile marine life darting within this shallow reef’s coral clusters. Expect a lot of activity and colour!

Day 7

Day at Leisure

By now you know that there is plenty to do in San Pedro. Enjoy another day at leisure to do some more shopping or try out one of the many restaurants you saw earlier in the week.

Day 8

Private Transfer from San Pedro to Belize International Airport

Today you take the return ferry from San Pedro to Belize City Pier and then a private transfer to Belize International Airport for your flight home unless you plan to extend your stay in the area.
