On a Nicaragua vacation, the country offers coastlines on both the Caribbean Sea to the east and the North Pacific Ocean to the west and has Costa Rica to the southeast and Honduras to the northwest. It is the largest country in Central America in the area and contains the largest freshwater body in Central America, Lago de Nicaragua (Lake Nicaragua).

The capital city of Nicaragua is Managua where roughly, one-quarter of the nation's population lives making it the second largest city and metropolitan area in Central America. Extensive Atlantic coastal plains rise to central interior mountains; the narrow Pacific coastal plain is interrupted by volcanoes making for some majestic landscapes. Nicaragua is dotted by several lakes of volcanic origin, the largest being Lago de Nicaragua. There are about 5 million people living in Nicaragua. The majority of the population is mestizo and white. Nicaraguan culture has strong folklore, music and religious traditions, deeply influenced by European culture but enriched with Amerindian sounds and flavours to be experienced on Nicaragua tours.

The main language is Spanish, which is spoken by about 90% of the population. Visitors come for the beauty and richness that this country offers. From eco-tourism, adventure, beach, colonial cities, nightlife, low cost of living and an ever-increasing stronghold in the international coffee bean trade, Nicaragua has experienced a booming number of tourists from around the world. The places where tourists visit is the colonial cities of Granada and Leon in the mountainous coffee farm region of Matagalpa. The PacificCoast offers hiking on the volcanoes.

There is much to see and do in Nicaragua and it is very inexpensive due to the fact that everything in Nicaragua is cheap. Bars, discotheques, restaurants, and hotels are opening at a rapid rate in the cities of Granada, Matagalpa, and Leon. San Juan del Sur is experiencing a rise in surfing tourism with surfers from around the world coming to catch some of the greatest waves ranked as one of the five best in the world. Matagalpa is experiencing its own surge of tourism due to its booming eco-friendly coffee bean production. In the mountains surrounding the city are an abundance of protected nature reserves, cloud forests and local lush estuaries where birds, monkeys and other exotic natural wildlife can be seen on a Nicaragua vacation.
