What language is spoken in Jordan?

The official language of Jordan is Arabic. 

Is English spoken throughout Jordan?

English is spoken well by many residents involved in tourism throughout the country. 

What currency is used in Jordan?

The currency used throughout the country is the Jordanian dinar. Mastercard and Visa are accepted in most stores while travelling in the country. ATMs are commonplace in Jordan. 

Do I need a visa to travel to Jordan?

A visa is required when travelling as a tourist from Canada or the United States. A visa can be obtained online prior to leaving for your vacation and will be valid for up to 30 days. You may also obtain a visa upon arrival at Amman Queen Alia Airport and Sheikh Hussein border crossing. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date you expect to leave Jordan.

When is the best time to travel to Jordan?

The best time to travel to Jordan is between March and May as well as mid-September to mid-November as temperatures are hot but not overwhelming.

Is there transportation within Jordan?

The most convenient way to get around Jordan is via taxi. There are also bus routes between major destinations in the country as well as the national airline, Royal Jordanian airlines. Many small vans and medium-sized tourism vehicles are often used for small or private group travel.

Is Jordan a family friendly destination?

With culture and history overflowing, Jordan is a wonderful family trip. Explore the historic ruins of Petra or relax by the Dead Sea. There is something for everyone and hospitality is especially afforded to families.  

How welcoming is Jordan to LGBTQ travellers?

Jordan is one of the few Middle Eastern countries where homosexuality is legal. That said, attitudes can be quite conservative and discrimination does occur. All couples should avoid public affection in Jordan as this is extremely frowned upon regardless of orientation. The capital city of Amman has gay-friendly venues and LGBTQ travellers should not be put off from travelling to Jordan and can expect to have a fascinating and fun-filled vacation.

What vaccinations are required or suggested for travel to Jordan? 

There are no compulsory vaccinations required for Jordan, however, we recommend you consult with your local travel clinic for the most up-to-date recommendations, particularly in regards to malaria prophylactics. Proof of yellow fever vaccination is required if you are coming from or have transited through an airport of a country where yellow fever occurs.
