Three Cabins Left on Goway’s Luxurious Cape Town to Cairo Trip

Space is filling up on Goway's biggest adventure, which combines Africa's greatest sights with luxury train trips.

Earlier this year, Goway Travel launched their biggest adventure yet, The Cape to Cairo: An Ultimate Journey of a Lifetime. This 32-day Africa trip of dreams from Cape Town to Cairo will embark in January 2016, with an expert team of local representatives, and Goway founders Bruce and Claire Hodge personally escorting the tour.

With strictly limited space, there are now only three cabins remaining. “We’ve been thrilled with the response to this journey,” said Moira Smith, Goway’s General Manager for Africa. “It truly showcases the depth of our Africa product.”

Now the pinnacle of luxury train trips, the Cape to Cairo dream is an old one, envisioned by Cecil Rhodes in the late 19th century, when British colonial control of Africa was at its height. Rhodes was adamant that Cape Town could be connected to Egypt via a series of railway lines through the British colonies. His vision was completed all the way up to Kenya, before shifting economic realities and the end of the colonial era put plans on hold indefinitely.

This did not, however, sate adventurers eager to travel the route. Taking guests from one of the world’s most beautiful city locations to its only surviving ancient wonder, this is Africa’s ultimate rail journey. Passengers start by touring South Africa before taking in majestic Victoria Falls, a Mountain Gorilla trek, and opportunities for a luxury African safari through some of the continent’s most famous parks and reserves.

The gap in the route between Kenya and Egypt necessitates some flying, but travellers will find this small loss in bragging rights well worth it when they touch down for a short Ethiopia tour enroute. Not only will passengers see the highlights of Southern Africa, Eastern Africa, and Egypt, they’ll explore the only country on the continent to remain completely independent of colonial rule.
