Ultimate Africa: Masai Mara, Livingstone, Cape Town & More

Duration
11 Days
Prices From:

FIRST-CLASS | TAILOR-MADE: South Africa or Kenya for your African adventure? With this unique itinerary, there’s no need to choose. Enjoy the culture and wildlife of the Masai Mara before flying on to Victoria Falls to see the breathtaking Falls before heading to Cape Town.

This 11-day combination of Kenya’s Masai Mara, spectacular Victoria Falls, and Cape Town in South Africa offers a unique African safari opportunity contrasting the continent’s natural beauty with urban sophistication.

Touch down in Nairobi for one night to settle in before your flight to the Masai Mara. If you arrive early and want to sightsee, consider visiting the Karen Blixen Museum or Coffee Garden and Cottages, or the Nairobi National Museum. Then fly to the Masai Mara, where Kenyan hospitality welcomes you for two days of wildlife-spotting adventure. The Masai Mara flows on from Tanzania’s Serengeti, putting it in the path of the annual Great Migration. But you’ll enjoy spectacular wildlife viewing here at any time, in the comfort and privacy of one of Kenya’s best game lodges. Return to Nairobi, staying at the 5-star Nairobi Safari Club for one night before you fly on.

Known as ‘The Smoke That Thunders,’ Victoria Falls is one of Mother Nature’s greatest sights, straddling the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. Spending two nights here, you can explore the Falls from every angle, which may include a boat ride on the mighty Zambezi, or through the dramatic gorges downriver from the Falls, each of which marks a former precipice where they were once located. Opt for a helicopter journey if you want to take in the (very!) big picture.

Your last stop is Cape Town, on the Western Cape of South Africa. See the dramatic contrasts of the Mother City, whose spectacular coastal location has earned comparisons to San Francisco and Sydney. A full day peninsula tour takes you past the city’s most opulent homes, to some of its most famous wildlife spots including Boulder’s Beach, and to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Then enjoy a half-day tour of the inner city to explore Cape Town in detail. Learn about its Jewish community, and see the balcony from which Nelson Mandela delivered his first public speech. The day will be a combination of history and modern Cape Town culture, with a visit to the fascinating Malay Quarter.

Finally, journey out to the Winelands to Cape Town’s east. South African wines are rising rapidly to become one of the world’s top drops, and they’re produced in one of nature’s most stunning regions. Visit Franschhoek, and the university town of Stellenbosch. You’ll also enjoy a tasting at two wineries before returning to Cape Town.
