Enjoy a tour around the island of Huahine in a 4x4 vehicle. The first stop is a Maeva, renowned for its numerous "Marae" (ancient temples). Maeva was once the royal residence and has been the object of extensive archeological research. Then head to Fauna Nui Lake where ancient stone fish traps (over 400 years old) are still in use today and provide a considerable food source for the people of this village. In Motu Manunu, visit a unique national "Marae" where councils of war, human sacrifice, and coronations of kings and queens were among the rituals in times of antiquity. In Faie, take a 2 minute boat transfer to the black pearl farm station, which is built on stilts in the lagoon and is surrounded by fish basins. Learn all about the art of the Polynesian black pearl art and its processes. Next, head up to Belvedere, the breathtaking look-out point over the crater. This area is lined with teak trees and lush tropical forest. Over on Huahine Iti, the smaller of Huahine's two islands, you will be introduced to some of the significant flora, including plantations of vanilla, flowers, and pineapples. Discover the main village of Huahine, Fare, situated on the west coast and enjoy the views on the neighbouring island of Raiatea, Bora Bora and Taha'a before heading back to your hotel.
