MODERATE | ESCORTED COACH TOUR: Outdoor travellers will love this tour of New Zealand, showcasing the natural wonders that have made these islands such an adventurer’s haven. Outdoor travellers will love this 15 day tour of New Zealand, showcasing the natural wonders that have made these islands such an adventurer’s haven.
Consistently voted one of the world’s most liveable cities, Auckland seduces visitors with an ideal mix of indoor culture and outdoor lifestyle. Consider arriving early to enjoy the view from Mt Eden, or perhaps a cruise on the harbour before journeying to the historic Bay of Islands. Take a catamaran to CapeBrett to see the famous Hole in the Rock. Enjoy a guided tour to see the glowworms of WaitomoCaves on your way to Rotorua, home to bubbling mudpools and spouting geysers. You’ll partake of a traditional Maori Hangi feast and cultural performance at MitaiMaoriVillage. Also included are visits to Te Puia Thermal Reserve, the Maori Arts and Crafts Institute, and the Agrodome, for an insight into New Zealand’s sheep farming industry.
From Wellington, cruise through Cook Strait to the South Island and board the TranzAlpine express, bound for Greymouth and Fox Glacier. You’ll traverse some of New Zealand’s most spectacular scenery on one of the world’s greatest short train journeys. Travel through HaastPass to Queenstown, the nation’s adventure capital, located right in the heart of the South Island’s mountain landscape. Spend a day at leisure here to enjoy the city your way (though a jetboat ride on the ShotoverRiver is a favourite!), before a full day tour to Fiordland National Park, including Milford Sound, a breathtaking, 16km long fjord carved by glaciers out to the Tasman Sea.
Travel from the nearby town of Te Anau to beautiful, Scottish-influenced Dunedin. Spook yourself on an included tour of Larnach Castle, a Dunedin landmark with a dark past, where close to 30 encounters with ‘cranky spirits’ have been reported. Pass the spectacular Moeraki Boulders on your way to Lake Oheau, then bid New Zealand farewell with a visit to its highest peak, Mt Cook – known to the Maori as ‘Cloud Piercer’ – before your transfer to Christchurch Airport.
