Today explore the locations used for Lord of the Rings films. No sets remain, just the gorgeous scenery featured in the film. Wakatipu Basin offers you a glimpse of the Misty Mountains, the Pillars of the Argonath, the site of Isildur's fall, and the Ford of Bruinen. This tour offers gold-panning, 4WD river crossings (when conditions permit) and a great overview of the diverse scenery of the Queenstown/ Arrowtown area. You will return to town between 12.30pm and 1.30pm to make your own lunch arrangements. You will be collected from your accommodation for the second half of your Safari of The Rings tours. Glenorchy includes the sights of Isengard and Ithilien Camp, plus beech forests near those used for Lothlorien. You'll also pass the area used to film the Seat of Seeing/ the battle of Amon Hen. This scenic tour offers a little off-road action in the 12 Mile Delta, plus breathtaking mountain and forest views along the shores of Lake Wakatipu.
