Discover a new adventure around every corner in Chile. Gaze upon sand dunes and the night sky in the world’s driest desert, the Atacama, visit the colonial centre and modern skyscraper district of Santiago, and venture to Patagonia to hike beneath the granite towers of Torres del Paine National Park.

This 10-day Chilean vacation takes you to Santiago, the Atacama Desert, and Patagonia to explore the country’s diverse landscape. It features first-class accommodations, small group tours, and is perfect for active travellers wanting to experience the best of the outdoors.

Your journey begins in Santiago, the Chilean capital, where you’ll have a night to get situated in this surprising South American city. You’ll then connect to San Pedro de Atacama in the world-famous Atacama Desert. Pass through the Salt Mountain Range and see the large sand dunes of Dinosaur Valley before reaching the Valle de la Luna, formerly known as Las Salinas. This moonlike canyon of dunes and jagged rocks was formed from erosion over millions of years. Today, it’s one of the most astounding landscapes on the planet. Explore the valley and some of its geological landmarks, including the Central Crater and Kari Lookout, where you can admire the canyon come to life with a multitude of colours at sunset.

You’ll have two full days in the Atacama Desert to explore the landscapes around San Pedro de Atacama. Head to the Salar de Atacama salt flat and discover lagoons home to thousands of bright flamingoes. In Toconao, you’ll admire the original architecture carved from volcanic stone before reaching El Tatio geysers, where you can watch geysers explode 50m in the air and spot vicunas and llamas in the countryside.

Return to Santiago and head on a city tour to see some of the city’s most popular sights. Start in the central square, Plaza de Armas, before stopping by Moneda Palace and winding your way up Santa Lucia Hill. Enjoy lunch at the famous restaurant, Barrio Lastarria, before continuing to “Sanhattan,” the financial district of glass skyscrapers that has earned comparisons to downtown New York City. From Santiago, head towards the coast and connect to Vina del Mar to enjoy some local seafood and a visit to the Flower Clock. Connect onward to Valparaiso, the coastal UNESCO-listed city that’s known for its gorgeous location.

Connect south to Patagonia and the town of Punta Arenas, in the far southern reaches of Chile. Transfer to nearby Puerto Natales, which will serve as your base during your time in Patagonia. You’ll spend two days exploring Torres del Paine National Park, one of the most famous parks in all of Patagonia. Learn about giant land sloths at the Milodon Cave before reaching the park and hiking beneath the three famous granite towers that give the park its name. You’ll also explore rugged landscapes alongside Lake Nordenskiold and Laguna Amarga. You’ll have another day to discover the quiet township of Puerto Natales or further explore Torres del Paine.

At the end of your journey, you’ll connect back to Punta Arenas and then to Santiago to transfer home.
