The tour begins with a visit on foot to the traditional market where the Tahitians sell fish, fruit and crafts. Then you will head to the Cathedral of Papeete and the Vaima Center to enjoy its numerous shops. Finally, hop on a vehicle for a discovery tour of the Polynesian Institutions, and a visit to the Pearl Museum. After Lunch (own expense) visit Venus Point located in the north on the edge of Matavai Bay, it was the special scene of successive landings of European navigators. James Cook gave the name Venus in memory of his scientific trip to observe the planet. Afterwards stop at the Arahoho Blow Hole, a lava tube designed by liquid lava flowing under hardened cold lava. The channel created by this process results in a powerful sea water geyser when ocean waves crash against the rock. Your next stop of the day will be at the Vaipahi Garden, a place where you will see some endemic Tahitian flowers, trees and other plants beside a quaint waterfall. Your final stop will be the Grotto Caves with a lake that represents an optic illusion.
