Learn about flora and nature in one of the most beautiful rain forests in the world. On the guided walking tour into the Waipoua Forest, visitors will meet our ancestors; the mighty Te Matua Ngahere ('The Father of the Forest') estimated to be between 2,500 and 3,000 years old, his mighty girth is over 5 meters (15ft) in diameter, and then the grand finale - Tane Mahuta ('The Lord of the Forest') who stands an impressive 51 meters (150ft) tall. This spiritual encounter with nature, for some, is a life changing experience.
