A childhood spent leafing through travel brochures and the family atlas more or less sealed my globetrotter status from the start. I've often chosen atypical destinations for my first taste of a region, such as Budapest in Europe or Belo Horizonte in South America. My first trip saw me lost exploring the streets of Saigon. Following my nose to Asia’s best coffee, two lifelong addictions were born! I've lived in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Berlin, until a trip to Canada ultimately turned into a permanent move, and the beginning of my association with Goway. As of this writing, I've visited 30 countries in Asia, Europe, Latin America, and Downunder, with Kenya and Egypt being my first tastes of Africa. My next dream destination is likely to be Mexico (so close, so enticing, and yet...), though each country I visit adds to the struggle between visiting a new place and returning to an old favourite!

My favourite places

  • Budapest

    Europe

For all the grand cities in Europe, Budapest is something special. Culturally unique, jaw-droppingly beautiful, affordable, and just plain fun (thermal spas and ruin pubs, anybody?) this magical city at the crossroads of Central, Eastern, and Balkan Europe is far more than an attractive stop along the Danube.

  • Melbourne

    South Pacific

Either Sydney or Melbourne could have taken this slot, but in the end, Melbourne's insatiable appetite for art, diverse nightlife and amazing food hits the spot against its industrial, gritty surface. Melbourne constantly rewards the curious traveller who just likes to see what's around the next corner.

  • Rio de Janeiro

    Central & South America

It's hard not to feel transported, watching sunset over the Dois Irmãos, and hearing all of Ipanema Beach applaud the end of another perfect Rio day. Nowhere brings lush forest, gorgeous beaches, and exciting urban energy together quite like Rio, and no visit here is complete without taking time to explore all three.

  • Tokyo

    Asia

Tokyo is more an experience than a city, best taken one neighbourhood at a time with your eyes and mind wide open. Endlessly stimulating, yet more affordable than its resputation suggests, Tokyo seems have a surprise waiting around every corner, yet it's also one of the most visitor-friendly cities on Earth.

Did you know?

  • Skip your Starbucks in Australia! Independent cafes serve some of the world's best espresso based drinks.
  • Credit cards are widely accepted in Brazil, even at the beach, so bring only what you'll need for the day.
  • A prepaid Suica card is your best friend for getting around Japan. You can use it on most forms of public transit across the country, and even in some stores.
