MIKE KEON

UK EUROPE

DESTINATION SPECIALIST

Nothing excites me more than planning that next trip. I am from a small town in rural Ireland and love sharing my knowlwedge of European destinations to help my clients make their travel dreams come true. Each European country is so rich in history and culture and there are so many hidden gems. It often takes repeat visits to get to know and appreciate a destination's culture and uniqueness. I have had the opportunity to discover twenty countries in Europe as of today, with many more to still tick off my bucket list. My favourite way to explore the continent is via rail, as you get to hop from city to city in a matter of just a few hours and avoid the hassle of airports.

My favourite places

  • Rome, Italy

Rome has been described as one of the most beautiful cities in the world for a good reason. I fell in love with the Italian capital as soon as I touched down in this glorious city. Rome is an amazing mix of art, history, religious culture and delicious food.

  • Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon is truly a spectacular city that offers travelers an abundance of things to see, do, and explore. It is known for its unique historical center, stunning architecture and tasty food. It is also the sunniest capital city in mainland Europe.

  • Paris, France

The French capital is one of the world's most visited cities. It has an abundance of landmarks, museums and cathedrals to visit and is considered the most romantic city in Europe. It is also of significant cultural importance and has been a source of inspiration for many writers, artists and filmmakers.

Did you know?

  • Rome is older than Italy itself. According to mythology, the city was founded back in 753BC by twin brothers.
  • Lisbon was almost completely destroyed in an earthquake back in 1755, followed by fires and a tsunami.
  • The Eiffel Tower was intended to stand for only twenty years after being built for the 1889 World Fair.
  • Over 60% of Amsterdam residents cycle every day and there are about three bicycles for every car on the road.
