Eastern & Oriental Express The Train

THE TRAIN

Voyaging through Singapore, travelling in Thailand, Malaysia and crossing into Laos. The Eastern & Oriental Express train offers luxury travel through some of the world’s most exotic landscapes. Sister train to Europe’s legendary Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, the train was built in Japan in 1972. Remodelled by Gérard Gallet, the man behind the British Pullman and the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, it offers a South-East Asian travel experience like no other.

OBSERVATION CAR

Located at the rear of the train, make your way to the colonial-style, teakwood Observation Car for sightseeing by day and cocktails and entertainment after dark.

Part of the carriage is outdoors for wonderful photo opportunities throughout your journey.

CABINS

Choose between three grades of comfortable, wood-panelled cabins—Pullman, State and Presidential Suites—all decorated with exquisite marquetry.

The Eastern & Oriental Express offers guests four categories of elegant private cabins: Pullman Single, Pullman, State Cabin and Presidential Cabin. Most offer twin-sharing accommodation; all are fully air-conditioned with an en-suite shower and toilet.

Cherrywood and elm burr panelling provide the backdrop for decorative marquetry friezes and intricate design inlays that enhance fine fabrics and carpets.

The Pullman Cabins have upper and lower berths, while State Cabins and the Presidential Cabin offer two single beds at floor level. All Pullman Singles offer one single bed at floor level.

During the day, berths/single beds are converted into comfortable seating, so guests can relax and enjoy the magnificent unfolding landscapes.

Each air-conditioned cabin has an ensuite shower and lavatory, and large picture windows. Your cabin steward will look after you during your journey 24 hours a day.

PULLMAN CABIN

During the day, your cabin is a private lounge complete with a banquette-style sofa. At night, it converts into a plush bedroom with an upper and lower bed.

STATE CABIN

State Cabins are configured as a private lounges during the day with a banquette-style sofa. Fixed daytime seating converts to two single beds for the night.

PRESIDENTIAL CABIN

The ultimate in luxury, Presidential Cabins are configured as a plush lounge during the day. At night, they are converted into an intimate bedroom complete with two single beds.

DINING ON THE MOVE

E&O's internationally renowned chefs create spectacular eastern and western specialties to rival the world's best fine-dining restaurants.

Lunch and dinner are served in the two Restaurant Cars, while a breakfast of croissants, fruit, coffee, tea and juice is delivered to your cabin daily. Early risers can enjoy refreshments in the Observation Car, served from 7 am onwards.

Each of the seasonally changing menus is created exclusively for the Eastern & Oriental Express by onboard chefs, incorporating the finest locally sourced ingredients.

BAR CAR

Open from early morning until late into the night, the Bar Car is a convivial hub at any time of day. Come evening, take a seat for an aperitif or cocktail set to the dulcet sounds of the resident pianist. After dinner, settle back and enjoy the local entertainment.
