  • Kyoto: Hiroshima and Miyajima Full Day Tour

    Early this morning, take the bullet train from Kyoto to Hiroshima (2 hours). Upon arrival, meet your guide and transfer to Miyajimaguchi for the ferry to Miyajima Island. This enchanting island is home to the Shinto shrine of Itsukushima, famous for its huge bright orange gate (tori) that rises majestically out of the sea. At high tide it is considered to be one of the most beautiful sights in Japan. The size and physical landscape of Miyajima makes it an ideal place for walking, and you can spend some time relaxing on your own here. Return to central Hiroshima and visit the Peace Park and Memorial Museum, illuminating the tragic events of World War II. Drive past the eerie A-Bomb Dome, left standing in a ruinous state after more than 70 years. This evening, return by bullet train to Kyoto.

  • Kyoto: Kyoto & Nara with Lunch Full Day Tour

    Set out to explore some of Kyoto's most famous sites and discover the history behind this one thousand year capital. Tour Nijo Castle, noted for its gorgeous interiors and its "squeaky" nightingale floors which alerted residents to unwanted intruders (if Nijo Castle is closed, visit Ryoanji Temple instead). Continue to Kinkakuji Temple, famous for its Golden Pavilion covered entirely in thin layers of pure gold as well as for its exquisite Japanese gardens and koi ponds. Afterwards, visit Kyoto's Imperial Palace and gain exclusive access to the former residence of the Emperor of Japan (if the Palace is closed, visit Kitano Tenmangu Shrine instead). After a Japanese- and Western-style buffet lunch, set out by coach for Nara (90 minutes). Visit Todaiji Temple, which houses the world’s largest bronze statue, the tallest of the three Great Buddha statues of Japan. The friendly wild deer roaming freely around the temple are considered to be sacred messengers of the Shinto gods. Continue to the Kasuga Grand Shrine, famous for its hundreds of bronze lanterns which hang from the buildings and line walking paths through the woods. Finally, make a stop at Nara Nagomikan, where you can splurge on a variety of food products, sweets and goods, all exclusive to Nara. Return to Kyoto between 6:30-7:30pm.

  • Tokyo: Dynamic Tokyo with Lunch Full Day Tour

    This morning, take in mesmerizing city views from the Tokyo Tower, designed by Tachu Naito and inspired by the Eiffel Tower. Afterwards, participate in a tea ceremony, a quintessential Japanese art. Enjoy a Japanese-style lunch, then continue on to the Imperial Palace Plaza and admire the palace gardens, including picturesque Nijubashi Bridge (please note that entrance inside the palace is forbidden). Next, take a cruise along the Sumida River, alighting at Azumabashi Bridge in Asakusa. Continue on foot to Sensoji, the oldest and most beloved temple in the city. Explore crazy Nakamise shopping street, then take a drive through the high-end shopping district of Ginza. You'll be dropped off at either Tokyo Station or the Hamamatsucho Bus Terminal (5:10-5:30pm) from where you can continue to explore on your own or return to your hotel.
