Brazil - Culture
Casual clothing is the norm in Brazil due to the hot temperatures. The usual greeting between men is shaking hands, however, in informal settings, kissing women on both cheeks is normally practiced. As almost three-quarters of the population follow the Roman Catholic faith, the Catholic church is very revered and visitors should respect that.
The official language of Brazil is Portuguese, however Spanish, English, Italian, French and German are also spoken. Indigenous languages include Gê, Tupi-guarani, Aruak and Karib.
Brazil has no official religion, however, 74% of the population are followers of the Roman Catholic faith. Due the size of Brazil and its large population, many religions, including indigenous beliefs, are practiced.
