Social Conventions
The Portuguese are warm and hospitable people who consider family very important. A handshake is a common form of greeting. While casual wear is acceptable throughout Portugal, beach clothing should remain on the beach.
Language
Portuguese is the official language, however, there are different dialects. Galician and Mirandese are also spoken.
Religion
Approximately 85% of the population of Portugal is Roman Catholic. Agnostic, Anglican, Atheist, Jewish, Muslim and Protestant communities are also represented.
