What language is spoken in Denmark?

The official and most widely spoken language in Denmark is Danish. There are also a number of minority languages spoken including Faroese, Greenlandic and German.

Is English widely spoken in Denmark?

Yes, English is very widely spoken in Denmark with up to 90% of the population being able to speak it fluently.

What currency is used in Denmark?

The Danish krone is the official currency of Denmark. Major credit cards, including Visa and Mastercard, are accepted at most restaurants, hotels and shops. ATMs are also widely available throughout Denmark and can be found in any bank.

Do I need a Visa to travel to Denmark?

No, a visa is not required for Canadian or US citizens travelling to Denmark for stays less than 90 days in a 180 day period.

When is the best time to travel to Denmark?

The best time to visit Denmark is in the late spring to early summer when the grey skies have cleared, everything is bright, and there is the least chance of rainfall. Between May and June, temperatures are very pleasant, so you will be comfortable when walking around the streets or trekking on one of the many nature trails. The crowds at this time are also lesser than they are in the late summer months. Another good time to visit is in September, when the leaves have turned bright red and orange and the weather is still enjoyable. This is the best time to cycle, as the conditions are ideal for use of the national cycle routes.

Is there transportation in Denmark?

Trains are one of the most convenient ways to travel longer distances. Trains come very often and there are a few types of trains available that service different areas; Regional, InterCity, and InterCity Lyn (an express train). In Copenhagen there is also a metro network that consists of two lines and runs 24 hours a day. Coach busses are also very common and can connect you from Denmark to other locations in Europe. Public busses operate in most cities but are less commonly used outside of smaller towns. Of course there is also the option of cycling, which is a very popular means of transportation in Denmark. With a very large network of designated bike lanes in both smaller towns and major cities, it is one of the most convenient ways to get around for short trips.

Is Denmark a family friendly destination?

Denmark is one of Europe’s best destinations for families. If you have kids that love lego, look no further than the original Legoland built here in Denmark. Copenhagen has plenty to offer families on a Denmark vacation. With lovely parks, such as the well-known Tivoli Gardens, aquariums, zoos and museums, there is something for the entire family to enjoy. For the active and adventurous families, there is a large network of trekking paths, bike routes, and plenty of areas to swim in the sea.
