Departing your accommodation, we make our way to the train station where you board the Kuranda Scenic Railway, with the sun in your back this spectacular journey comprises unsurpassed views of World Heritage Listed rainforest, steep ravines and picturesque waterfalls within the Barron Gorge National Park. Constructed between 1882 and 1891 it is considered an engineering feat of tremendous magnitude. Hundreds of men were employed to build the 15 handmade tunnels and 37 bridges that stand as a monument to the pioneers of tropical North Queensland.
Arriving at Kuranda, your guide meets you to escort you to the village where we will enjoy a café lunch before wandering through the colorful arts and crafts market and boutique stores. Afterwards we visit a wildlife sanctuary for a very up close and personal experience with a koala. Here you will be able to cuddle a koala and have your photo taken.
Afterwards, your guide will take you to the Skyrail - "the world's most beautiful rainforest experience." Your gondola trip takes you above the canopy of this world heritage national park with stops along the way to visit Red Peak. A walk down to the forest floor is recommended where boardwalks enable you to view the fern covered forest floor. Your guide will be waiting to collect you at the other end and return you to your accommodation for the evening.
