The city of Cebu is situated on Cebu Island, part of the Visayas archipelago. Cebu Island, in the province of Cebu, stretches 225 km north to south and is surrounded by 167 smaller, neighbouring islands. A day trip can be taken to the neighbouring province of Bohol, featuring Chocolate Hills, a major tourist attraction on Philippines vacation packages. Consisting of approximately 1500 grass-covered limestone hills, spread over an area of more than 50 square km (20 sq mi), these cone-shaped karst formations turn brown in the dry season, hence their name.
With its natural surroundings, historic, religious, and cultural sites, and relaxing beach resorts, the city and island of Cebu have something wonderful to offer every tourist.
