A Joyous Journey Through South Africa
We booked our journey from Dubai to South Africa with Alice Teramoto, a destination specialist with Goway. Alice ensured that we were booked for all of the extras we wanted and organized a fantastic trip for us to enjoy! The local company that we worked with while there (Thompsons) was highly responsive and super helpful. Alice made great suggestions and kept us well informed & organized. It was an easy process for us and everything worked out well. The group size was perfect, the accommodations were awesome and all local guides were excellent!

Outstanding travel adventure
We have used Goway for several trips now. Our most recent trip was a trip to Africa with a safari focus. We know we can trust them will all the details. Once we described what kind of experience we wanted, they helped to ensure it was the best possible. Our agent Alice is always there for any questions pre-departure and during our travel time. All transfers were in place from getting from point A to B. All of the tour guides were very professional and very knowledgeable. We know we are in good hands with Goway and highly recommend.

Dreaming of an African Safari
I'm a travel advisor and worked with Jodi at GoWay to help create my clients dream African Safari. My clients returned in June and couldn't wait to provide their feedback. They absolutely LOVED everything about their journey. They got to see so many animals and the babies. They shared a video of 2 male lions walking right next to their safari vehicle! They felt safe and well taken care of. Their tour guides were amazing. They felt as if they were on a private tour since there were no more than 20 people at the lodges. Thanks Jodi and GoWay for helping my clients achieve their dream vacation!

South Africa Group Trip
I recently partnered with Goway to plan a luxury group trip to South Africa, and they delivered an incredible experience from start to finish. The itinerary was thoughtfully crafted, well-paced, and filled with meaningful excursions—my clients especially loved the Soweto tour, safaris, and wine country. Their guide Brenda was a standout—warm, professional, and unforgettable. The prearranged meals, comfortable transportation, and hand-picked accommodations made travel smooth and enjoyable for all. Goway was a reliable and attentive partner throughout the planning process, and I look forward to working with them again for future group adventures! Special shoutout to Frank & Tanya for being gems all throughout the planning process and handling the changes along the way, they truly made me look like a rockstar to my clients.

Best Time To Visit

South Africa is a fantastic year-round destination, with the best time to visit depending on your travel goals and preferred experiences. Whether you're chasing wildlife adventures or coastal relaxation, planning around the seasons can help you make the most of your trip.

During the peak season from May to September, the dry weather creates ideal conditions for safaris in Kruger National Park and the Eastern Cape, where animals gather at watering holes for easier spotting. However, keep in mind that the Western Cape experiences its winter during this time, often bringing wet and rainy days to areas like Cape Town.

“Wildlife viewing is best from May to September—things are drier and animals are easier to spot.” - Sam Cottar, Destination Specialist

The shoulder seasons of April to May and September to October offer warm, pleasant weather with fewer crowds, making them perfect for exploring Cape Town, the Winelands, and scenic coastal routes. These transitional months provide a balanced mix of comfort and fewer tourists.

In the summer months from November to March, expect hot weather that's great for beach vacations and lively cultural festivals, especially in Cape Town and the Western Cape. Whale watching along the coast is at its best from July to November, adding a special highlight to your itinerary.

Frequently Asked Questions

Plan for at least 10 to 14 days to enjoy a well-paced itinerary. This allows time for a safari, city exploration in Cape Town, and a few days along the Garden Route or in the Winelands.

South Africa offers world-class wildlife, rich culture, dramatic landscapes, and exceptional food and wine, making it ideal for first-time and returning travelers alike.

South Africa is generally safe for tourists as long as precautions are taken. For maximum security, use private transfers or reputable ride-hailing apps to get around, especially at night. Also, avoid large crowds and protests, keep a close eye on belongings, and refrain from carrying large amounts of cash. Staying vigilant, being aware of surroundings, and sticking to well-known tourist areas and organized tours can significantly reduce risks.

Routine and some travel-specific vaccines are recommended for South Africa, including boosters against hepatitis A, typhoid, and tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis, as well as up-to-date shots against MMR, polio, and chickenpox.

You should book a trip to South Africa about nine to 12 months in advance, especially for peak travel months (like December and January) or to secure popular safari lodges and accommodations. Consulting one of our Destination Specialists will help you plan accordingly, particularly if you have a specific itinerary in mind.

The best time for a safari in South Africa is during the dry season from May to October, with June to September being ideal for game viewing as animals gather at water sources and the sparse vegetation makes them easier to spot.
