The Best Places to Visit with Family in Singapore

No family vacation in Singapore is complete without a visit to Sentosa Island. This resort is a wonderland of entertainment and relaxation. Families can spend the day enjoying thrilling rides at Universal Studios Singapore or relaxing on idyllic beaches. Don't forget to stop by the S.E.A. Aquarium, home to more than 100,000 marine animals, offering a captivating journey of underwater exploration.

Gardens by the Bay is another must-see on any Singapore vacation itinerary. This iconic landmark features the futuristic Supertree Grove—a canopy of vertical gardens that illuminate the night sky. The Flower Dome and Cloud Forest provide an opportunity to explore diverse plant species, creating a world-class horticultural experience that fascinates both young and old.

Cultural Treasures and Experiences

In Singapore, the past and present coalesce in the vibrant neighbourhoods of Little India, Chinatown, and Kampong Glam. Each offers a rich tapestry of cultural experiences. Little India bursts with colourful saree shops and fragrant spice stalls. Families can experience a slice of Indian heritage by visiting the Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, adorned with intricate carvings and vivid artwork.

Chinatown, with its red lanterns and bustling market streets, offers an engaging look into Chinese culture. Visit the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple & Museum, which houses sacred Buddhist artefacts and showcases stunning architecture. Meanwhile, Kampong Glam, with its majestic Sultan Mosque, provides insight into Singapore's Malay heritage. The district is also a haven for artisanal boutiques and hip cafes, ideal for a leisurely exploration with family.

Delightful Culinary Adventures

Singapore's culinary scene is a testament to its diverse population and cultural fusion. From hawker centres offering affordable and delicious local delights to high-end restaurants serving gastronomic wonders, families will find something to please every palate.

  • Hawker Centres: A must-visit is the Maxwell Food Centre, where you can try famous dishes such as Hainanese Chicken Rice and Char Kway Teow. These bustling hubs are great for tasting a wide array of local dishes without breaking the bank.
  • High Tea at the Raffles Hotel: For a touch of colonial elegance, indulge in high tea at the iconic Raffles Hotel. Delight in the luxurious spread of teas and pastries, savoured amid grand surroundings.

Practical Travel Tips

Travelling in Singapore is a breeze, thanks to its efficient public transport system. The Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) network is both reliable and affordable, making it easy for families to zip across the city hassle-free. Taxis are also readily available and convenient for those who prefer private transport.

When planning a family trip, consider visiting during the Great Singapore Sale, typically held around mid-year. This period offers significant discounts on shopping—perfect for those wanting to enjoy retail therapy. Ensure to pack light and breathable clothing to stay comfortable in Singapore's tropical climate.

Finally, embrace the local way of drinking water straight from the tap, as it is the norm in Singapore and helps reduce plastic waste.

Whether you are seeking urban adventures or serene natural retreats, Singapore vacations offer an array of unforgettable experiences. With its mix of contemporary attractions and rich cultural tapestry, Singapore is indeed a playground for families seeking adventure and discovery.

I'd say that there is no bad time to visit Singapore, you just need to be ready to spend since they are considered at their peak all-year-round. Best times to visit will depend on the purpose of the trip - if you're in for a festive feels, then traveling closer to Lunar New year, Singapore National Day, Christmas and New Year would be great. Though weather may be a challenge in between.

Singapore has become a Foodie Epicenter because of the great cuisine diversity that they have. They have almost everything when it comes to food - from local to Malay to Chinese to Indian. You can even find Michelin restaurants in Hawker centers - if the queue is long, the food is good!

a top event to experience is Lunar New Year where Chinatown would be filled with colorful decorations, lights and markets - if you're lucky, you'd be able to watch lion dances along the streets, malls, small shops and offices.

If you'd like to see how it's like living in a traditional "kampong" (village) away from Singapore, then you can take a bumboat ride to Pulau Ubin. Visitors usually go there for a day trip and cycle around. You'll see wooden houses, wild boars and the biodiverse Chek Jawa wetlands

My destination specialist, Katie Stephenson was amazing from the onset. Her customer service, communication style and planning skills was so timely and top notch. Our trip was to Fiji, New Zealand and Australia, from Aug 4-22, 2026. The way she planned and booked the trip makes the experience convenient and enjoyable. The flexibility of payment makes the decision faster and attractive. Everything we need to know including contacts were readily available within our travel documents itinerary. Overall, I'll say it's money well spent and a lifetime experience particularly for my kids.Festus

We went on a highly customized comprehensive (though quick tour) of England and a bit of Scotland through Goway. Ingrid Aird did an amazing job of planning and arranging every detail with her deep experience, insight, thoughtfulness and creativity, tuning into the needs of each traveler; and she did so even though our decision to travel was rather spontaneous and last minute! Our family had the best time! We look forward to working with Ingrid and Goway again!Vilja Breiling

I can't tell you enough how much I love to work with Callie. She is a life saver and I love how attentive she is. Every time I give her an itinerary for a client- she really knocks it out of the park with the proposal. If there are any issues- she is on it right away. Her work ethic is outstanding.Michelle Labarca

We were trying to navigate Swiss Travel Center to book a 10 day train trip through Switzerland. It was exactly what we wanted but navigating their site was extremely difficult for us. Goway Travel picked up on our plight and put us in contact with Jacqueline Fagooli, one of their agents. From there on everything was so smooth. Their efficiency, communication, and thoroughness were beyond our expectations. The trip was fabulous and kudos to Jacqueline and Goway for their help in making it so.Carolyn McCormack
