Overview

Take a trip to Nha-Trang on your Vietnam Vacation

Located on the south-central coast of Vietnam, Nha Trang is the capital city of Khanh Hoa province. A resort town and fishing port, Nha Trang are well known for its beaches and seafood, perfect for a stopover on a Vietnam vacation.

Located on Nha Trang Bay, Nha Trang is surrounded by lush mountains, while its suburban areas have a developed shipbuilding industry, significantly contributing to the city’s wealth. With its huge fishing industry, both Nha Trang and its province also contribute heavily to Vietnam’s annual growth.

Considered a deserted area rich in wildlife for a couple of centuries, Nha Trang started its rapid development in the 20th century, with the Governor-General of French Indochina declaring Nha Trang a townlet. The unofficial capital of Khanh Hoa Province during French Indochina, Nha Trang was home to various administrative offices, while royal offices were situated just 10km southwest in a walled city called Dien Khanh.

Over the course of the 20th century, Nha Trang continued to expand and was officially listed as the capital of Khanh Hoa province, as well as being recognized as a first-class municipal city.

Primarily a beach resort town, Nha Trang is an important tourist hub for Vietnam vacation packages. Tran Phu Street sometimes referred to as the Pacific Coast Highway, runs along the seaside and features various hotels, shops, and eateries.

Lying off the coast of Nha Trang is Hon Tre Island (Bamboo Island), a five-star resort and theme park, and is linked to the mainland by a gondola lift system.

A tour of Nha Trang’s outskirts, offering picturesque countryside, provides a glimpse into rural life on a Vietnam vacation. Nha Trang features various museums and landmarks, such as Long Son Pagoda, a Buddhist temple featuring a 79ft white Buddha which overlooks the city.

Featuring miles of empty beaches, deserted bays, numerous islands and coral reefs, Nha Trang should definitely be on one's list on Vietnam tour packages.
