Hobart, Tasmania’s capital, is located between the beautiful peak of Mount Wellington and the mouth of the Derwent River. Australia's second-oldest city after Sydney, it's an Australia vacation highlight for history and nature lovers alike, with quaint settlers’ cottages and grand mansions dotting its beautiful surrounds.
Disused warehouses have been converted into dockside cafes, artists’ studios, and restaurants. Not far away is the Port Arthur UNESCO heritage historic site, with its well preserved penal colony buildings. The surrounding Tasman peninsula also offers spectacular clifftop walks through pristine wilderness.
