The main city is Broome, famous for its pearl industry and for producing one-third of the entire world’s diamonds. Hall’s Creek was the centre of the gold rush in 1865 and still retains a pioneering character. Nearby is the eerie moonscape of the Wolfe Creek Meteoric Crater, the second-largest crater in the world.
