The capital of South Australia is Adelaide, a charming boutique city, easy to walk around with its natural beauty reflected in its parks and historical architecture to be experienced on an Australia vacation. For culture buffs, the South Australia Museum is well worth a visit with its interesting aboriginal artifacts and the Art Gallery of South Australia has an excellent collection of masterpieces.
Close to Adelaide, is the famous Barossa Valley, a world-class wine region located only 70 kilometres/45 miles northeast of Adelaide and is Australia’s best-known wine-producing region with more than 150 wineries.
Also from Adelaide, on trips to Australia, one can take a short flight or ferry ride to Kangaroo Island, an animal paradise where you can enjoy koalas and seals at Seal Bay, discover unique wildlife and get close to kangaroos all living in their natural habitat.
Adelaide is the starting point on Australian tours from which visitors can travel on the very special Indian Pacific or The Ghan trains, the former travelling west to Perth and the latter travelling north to Alice Springs and Darwin, both offering great ways to see the wild yet scenically diverse Australian countryside.
