Amsterdam: A Canvass of Culture and History

At the heart of most group trips to the Netherlands is Amsterdam, a city that melds the old with the new in the most enchanting ways. Stroll through the labyrinthine streets of the Jordaan neighbourhood, where art galleries and quaint shops vie for attention amid the calming fragrance of blooming gardens. A visit to the Anne Frank House offers a poignant glimpse into history, while the Van Gogh Museum captivates with its extensive collection of the artist's works.

Your group may also enjoy a leisurely canal cruise, a quintessential experience that offers a unique perspective of the city's iconic 17th-century architecture. As the boat glides through the tranquil waters, immerse yourself in narratives from Amsterdam's Golden Age, unfolding against the backdrop of gently leaning houses and stone bridges.

Beyond the Canals: Discovering Dutch Landscapes

Nature enthusiasts embarking on group tours to the Netherlands will find their sanctuary in the sprawling vistas of De Hoge Veluwe National Park. Here, amid lush forested pathways and sandy dunes, lies the Kröller-Müller Museum, home to an astonishing array of modern art alongside beautiful sculpture gardens.

For a serene escape, venture to the Frisian Islands, where groups can indulge in birdwatching or engage in the age-old pastime of mudflat walking. As you tread the seabed during low tide, feel the cool North Sea breeze and savour the breathtaking horizon that seems to stretch infinitely ahead.

Dutch Heritage on Display

No trip to the Netherlands would be complete without a visit to the Zaanse Schans. This open-air museum serves as a time capsule of sorts, whisking visitors back to the heyday of the Dutch Golden Age. Watch artisans craft traditional clogs and savour the robust flavours of locally made cheeses, as your group gains insight into the ingenuity that fuelled the Netherlands' historic prosperity.

Capture the quintessential Dutch landscape with a quick tour of Kinderdijk, where windmills from the 18th century still stand majestically against the skyline. As you observe these engineering marvels, marvel at their crucial role in water management, a testament to the Dutch people's enduring relationship with their environment.

Culinary Journeys and Gastronomic Delights

Every group trip to the Netherlands should indulge the taste buds. Dive into the vibrant food scenes of cities like Rotterdam and Utrecht, where innovative chefs transform local produce into culinary masterpieces. Don’t miss out on sampling bitterballen, a savoury snack often paired with a refreshing glass of Dutch beer.

For dessert, nothing beats a warm stroopwafel. These syrup-filled waffle cookies are a sweet symbol of Dutch innovation, offering a perfect combination of crunchy and chewy textures that delight visitors worldwide.

Practical Tips for Group Travellers

Travelling with a group to the Netherlands can be made more enjoyable with a few practical insights. Opt for OV-chipkaart for convenient access to extensive public transport, including buses, trams, and trains. Consider renting bicycles for short-distance explorations—the Netherlands' bike-friendly infrastructure makes cycling both safe and delightful.

English is widely spoken, but your group will surely appreciate the warm smiles elicited by a friendly "Dank u wel" (thank you) or "Alsjeblieft" (please). These small gestures contribute greatly to a cultural exchange integral to the travel experience.

Whether it's winding through picturesque landscapes, uncovering the depths of artistic heritage, or indulging in mouthwatering delights, the Netherlands is a country that captivates the hearts of its visitors. Each city and region unfold a tapestry of experiences, perfectly tailored for the adventurers of group trips to the Netherlands. Embark on a voyage through this land of innovation and tradition, where every corner holds the promise of a new story.

Don’t mess with airport trains – Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam city can be confusing. There are multiple train lines, non-refundable tickets, and unhelpful staff. Save yourself stress—pre-book a private transfer to your hotel, it’s worth every cent.

You can still shop at the same bookstore where Anne Frank bought her first diary, and just around the corner is the apartment where her family lived before going into hiding. People still live there today, which makes it incredibly moving to see.

Everything was expertly planned, from the drivers to the hotels to the tours to the flights. We particularly enjoyed Hobart and the animal sanctuary, Adelaide and the trip to Kangaroo Island, Melbourne and the evening tour with dinner and drinks, and Sydney with the private boat cruise of the Harbour. We will definitely use Goway again.SARA Wiebe

There were 4 travelers on this trip. All of us were in our late 70's. We started planning this trip 6 months prior to our travel date and had a lot of questions regarding this trip. Our Goway Travel Specialist, Karen Larrota, always answered our questions in a timely and complete manner. We traveled to Quito, Ecuador, the Galapagos, The Sacred Valley in Peru, Machu Picchu, and Cusco in Peru. Not only were the destinations and accommodations excellent, but every tour guide and driver were beyond excellent. The entire trip went smoothly every step of the way, which was amazing given the fact that there were numerous flights and hotels included in our package. We found out that the tour company that Goway used, Condor Travel, checked on us with our guide to make sure we were doing OK which we thought was very nice but also amusing as we are fairly fit older adults. Would also like to mention that we did a cruise thru the Galapagos on the Galapagos Legend which was arranged thru Go Galapagos - Kleintouurs. This portion of our tour was also excellent as were the wildlife guides and staff. We continue to discuss how wonderful this trip was with our family and friends and how wonderful this experience was. Would definately use Goway for our travel needs in the future.Dianne

My daughter and I had a wonderful 2 weeks in New Zealand! The country is so beautiful and the people so friendly. Our destination specialist did a great job with planning and organizing the itinerary, choosing our hotels, and organizing transportation. The hotels were absolutely beautiful and we had great views. We felt right at home and found all of the staff to be friendly and accommodating. There were no issues with our itinerary and our excursions we were always on the list. Our transportation was always ready and waiting for us. We want to thank Goway Travel for their hard work and patience with us in planning this trip. Any changes that needed to be made were communicated timely. We also want to thank you for the beautiful weather during the entire 2 weeks it was perfect every day 😀. It was a memorable trip that we will never forget and we will think of Goway when we plan our next adventure. Because it was not just a vacation; it was an adventure!Connie Wenhardt

Brigitta Fuller is Amazing! She was my group coordinator. She understood the assignment and all the nuances I was trying to achieve. The itinerary she curated was fantastic. If you want someone who truly cares about her group and what they are trying to achieve. I will always reach out to Brigitta first for Europe groups. Kathryn Walker

My clients had a wonderful time on their trip to Easter Island. They were very pleased with the Hare Nua Hotel Boutique and especially noted the warmth and hospitality of the hotel staff as well as their excellent breakfasts. Jaime Vargas-Hendandez was an exceptionally gracious and knowledgeable agent, who went out of his way to ensure that my clients had the best possible experience. I will definitely contact him for future bookings and will recommend him to my colleagues.Alethea Kardas
