Overview
Take a trip to Costa del Sol on your Spain Vacation
The aptly named Costa del Sol (Sunny Coast) region is a sun-soaked paradise along Spain's southern coast. At its heart lies the vibrant capital, Malaga, a charming city with around 30 museums, including the Picasso Museum, commemorating Malaga as the birthplace of the legendary artist. Dive into Malaga's compelling history while savouring exquisite seafood dishes and the vibrant nightlife before venturing to the nearby Alcazaba fortress, standing tall and telling tales of Moorish rule.
Marbella is a city inviting you to enjoy its opulent marina, world-class golf courses, fine dining, and exciting nightlife. Its historic old town, with cobblestone streets and charming plazas, hides exquisite boutiques and art galleries around every corner. In Torremolinos, a once-sleepy fishing village has transformed into a bustling resort featuring clean sandy beaches, vibrant entertainment, and a bustling shopping street. The nearby picturesque fishing district of La Carihuela will enchant you with its traditional charm.
Benalmádena's three unique areas include the old village, Arroyo de la Miel's commercial heart, and the coastal region, with extensive beaches and a marina with excellent facilities. The Lake Paloma Park aquarium hosts many local art galleries for you to enjoy. Estepona has retained its charm with traditional tapas bars, cobblestone streets, beaches, golf courses, and archaeological sites from ancient Roman times. You can explore 10 mi / 16 km of sandy beaches in Nejra, a hub for water sports with a charming old town and ancient caves with prehistoric paintings.

If you are looking for the best time to visit, I would recommend Spring and early Fall. The weather wont be too hot and you will be avoiding the peak season where not only does the temperature rise, but there are lots of crowds.
Be wary that lunch and dinner are taken very late compared to North America! And don't expect to just pop into the shops around midday - most of them shut for a siesta break!
Most people do not know that most regions of Spain have their own language and traditions. This makes visiting Spain such a unique experience - everywhere you go is like visiting a completely new country
