Exploring the Northern Charm: The Basque Country and Beyond

Begin your journey in the Basque Country, a region where verdant hills roll into vast coastal expanses. The famed San Sebastián, with its crescent-shaped bay and gourmet appeal, is a food lover's paradise. Don't miss the chance to indulge in pintxos, the Basque version of tapas, as you stroll through the atmospheric Old Town. As you head west, the architectural marvel of Bilbao's Guggenheim Museum awaits—a shimmering masterpiece that stands as a testament to modern art.

Continuing your northern adventure, the road veers towards the mystical Asturias region. Here, the soaring Picos de Europa mountains offer a dramatic backdrop for outdoor enthusiasts. With winding roads that cut through luscious greenery and villages that whisper legends of old, it’s a drive for those who seek the road less travelled.

The Heart of Tradition: Madrid to Andalusia

Your tour of Spain wouldn't be complete without a journey from the heart of its capital to the soul of the south. Start in Madrid, a city teeming with artistry, vibrant street life, and monumental history. Be sure to admire masterpieces by Spanish legends at the Prado Museum before setting off on your southern quest.

As you meander down to Andalusia, the landscape transforms—dry, dusty plains give way to the vibrant reels of flamenco-infused Seville. Lose yourself in the rhythmic romance of the city where every corner exudes vitality and passion. Visit the spectacular Alcázar of Seville and let its Moorish architecture enchant you.

Granada and its allure are next on the itinerary. Here, the Alhambra stands majestic against the Sierra Nevada backdrop, offering a peek into the grandeur of a bygone era. Take some time to wander through the Albaicín district’s winding streets and experience the fusion of Moorish and Spanish influences.

Coastal Wonders: Barcelona to Valencia

No Spain road trip is complete without a slice of Mediterranean tranquility. Begin in Barcelona, where innovation meets tradition. Visit the extraordinary Sagrada Familia to witness Antoni Gaudí’s unfinished symphony in stone, and enjoy a leisurely stroll down Las Ramblas.

Follow the coastline to reach Tarragona, a coastal gem home to ancient Roman ruins and golden sandy beaches. Every summer, the city comes alive with vibrant festivals, combining history with lively present-day culture. A short drive south, discover the culinary delights of Valencia, the birthplace of paella. Savour each bite amidst the aroma of oranges that fill the air, epitomizing the flavour of Spain.

Journey Through Time: The Silk Road of Spain

For those who seek a road trip with a historical angle, the Ruta de la Plata, or Silver Route, offers a journey encased in antiquity. Traversing Spain from north to south, this ancient commercial route connects cities rich in Roman heritage. From the grand cathedrals of Salamanca to the serene landscapes of Extremadura, every stop is a chapter in the story of Spain’s rich past.

This journey culminates in Seville, where modernity and tradition entwine. Here, witness the dance of Spanish guitars and the swirl of flamenco dresses that portray the vibrant soul of this indelible city.

A road trip through Spain is not merely a voyage on four wheels; it is a voyage through time, passion, and culture. Each turn of the road offers a new discovery, from the enchanting echoes of history to the vibrant pulse of the present. Pack your bags and set your spirit free on one of the best road trips in Spain, and let the country’s endless routes inspire a journey that beckons with charm, intrigue, and endless wonder.

If you are looking for the best time to visit, I would recommend Spring and early Fall. The weather wont be too hot and you will be avoiding the peak season where not only does the temperature rise, but there are lots of crowds.

Be wary that lunch and dinner are taken very late compared to North America! And don't expect to just pop into the shops around midday - most of them shut for a siesta break!

We have used Goway Travel for previous trips and have been very happy with their excellent service. Our last trip to New Zealand and Australia was no exception. Our agent, Lori Mazzono, got tuned into the sort of trip we were hoping to have immediately. The various booking she provided were, without exception, exceptional and exactly what we envisioned, We really don't think we would have changed anything. tBruce Belshaw

Mary was absolutely fantastic to work with. She was incredibly responsive and quick to assist with every update and change my clients made throughout the planning process. Her expertise was invaluable, from recommending the perfect resorts to advising on the best way to travel between the islands. My clients loved every moment of their trip, especially their resort stays and overwater bungalow experiences. As this was their honeymoon, creating a seamless and memorable journey was so important, and Mary exceeded expectations. They rated their experience a 5 out of 5 and could not have been happier. Thank you, Mary, for your outstanding support and attention to detail. I truly appreciated your partnership and would not hesitate to work with you again for future South Pacific Island bookings. We had a wonderful trip to Peru for 11 days organized by Goway. Overall the trip was great, we loved our guides throughout, some of the hotels were truly amazing and it was helpful having everything organized and having a point person to ask questions and check in while we were there. Some main highlights were: 1) Machu Picchu- I am so glad we did two tours, because the weather was perfect for views, but also had an opportunity to see Machu Picchu more in depth with a knowledgeable and friendly guide and had a little extra time in Aguas Calientes to shop, explore and even visit the butterfly garden and do some birdwatching. 2) Cusco especially the Hotel Aranwa Cusco. The hotel was incredible, excellent service, modern updates, it was a true highlight of the trip. Cusco itself was also a highlight, loved our half day tour, plus getting ideas for our guide on what else to see in our free time and where to eat. 3) Lima- Aloft Miraflores was another highlight, very modern, nice pool and the best breakfast out of the hotels we stayed in. The location in Miraflores was also perfect, as there were plenty of restaurants, cafes and attractions nearby. 4) Everyone at Condor was great, from ensuring we had all our documents, tickets and itinerary to even stepping in to get water and agua Florida when we were feeling the altitude sickness the first hours in Cusco. Most of our rides and transfers were very comfortable and made the trip run smooth through all the different locations. I have been telling my friends and family how wonderful the experience with Goway has been for our Peru adventure. Eric Paul Schatzel

We used Goway on our 32 day vacation to New Zealand and Australia. The person I worked with on planning the vacation was really helpful. The way they let you plan a vacation allows for lots of flexibility. You don't have to go with one tour the whole time. We saw a lot and they tailored it to what we were interested in. All the hotels were great and in good locations. Most of the tours were good but we would have preferred to spend a little more time exploring on our own in Sydney. The only thing we were not happy with is the customer service while we were there. Hard to get a hold of and some of the instructions were not clear/ accurate. That was a little stressful. Good value for the money. Dawn Krafft Hawkins
