Overview

Take a trip to La Digue Island on your Seychelles Vacation

La Digue is Seychelle’s 3rd largest inhabited island and is reached by ferry from Mahe. One arrives at the village of La Passe on the east coast of the island from where one can enjoy magnificent views across the water to Praslin. On a Seychelles vacation, this island is very relaxed with just a few vehicles and offers several beautiful beaches. It is like stepping back in time.

La Passe gives the impression of a sleepy tropical port. It does have beaches but there are more outstanding beaches on the island.

One of the most photographed beaches in the world is Anse Source D'Argent due to its pure white sand and unique boulders. It really is stunning and the crystal clear turquoise waters and pristine sand are truly breathtaking. It is easy to spot fish swimming in the shallow around the reef without a mask or snorkel. It is also possible to see a sea turtle swimming off the shore.

Another very beautiful beach on a Seychelles vacation is Grand Anse, picturesque with huge waves and surrounded by large granite rocks. However, the sea is unfortunately not for swimming, due to an extremely strong undertow.

The Veuve Nature Reserve, though small boasts the distinction of having the only remaining population of Black Paradise Flycatchers of which there are reportedly only about 100 of these rare birds in existence. The Veuve Reserve is comprised largely of thick jungle and you don't have to be a birdwatcher to appreciate other rare creatures that reside in the jungle.

I love learning about Nicaragua's culture and experiencing its Spanish influence in some cities. I was only there for five days, but I'll never forget how delicious the food was and how welcoming and extremely polite the people were.

The Day of the Dead in Guatemala is a great local tradition where people gather to fly giant, intricately decorated kites to honour the dead.

The colourful Spanish architecture, the beautiful scenery, particularly the stunning lakes, and the Mayan ruins are what I love most about Guatemala!
