Overview
Take a trip to San Pedro De Atacama on your Chile Vacation
San Pedro de Atacama is a Chilean town and commune in the El Loa Province. Despite rather modest beginnings, this small town has emerged as a favourite among tourists on a Chile vacation.
The region was once the centre of the Atacama Indians and as such, many relics and artefacts have been discovered. San Pedro once served as an important stop on the pre-Colombian trade route before it was visited by Spanish conquistador Pedro de Valdivia in 1540. Early in the 20th century, the town again served as an important stop for cattle drives coming from Argentina. Recent years have witnessed San Pedro de Atacama become a popular tourist spot due to its location at the heart of some of northern Chile’s most incredible scenery.

What do the experts say?
Pastel de choclo, sweet corn baked over savoury meat, olives, and eggs, is a must-try. Pair it with a pisco sour or a glass of Carménère or Sauvignon Blanc.
Rapa Nui, also known as Easter Island, offers a profound spiritual connection to nature and culture. The night skies, volcanic landscapes, and iconic Moai statues make it one of the most isolated and romantic places on earth.
Chile’s diversity is unmatched. You can enjoy wine tasting in the Casablanca Valley, watch the sunset on the Pacific coast, stargaze in the Atacama Desert, trek the glaciers of Patagonia, and even escape to mystical Rapa Nui, all in one trip.
