Samoa: The Cradle of Polynesia

Tell me more

When you arrive in Samoa, you might feel as if you’ve stepped into a dream. But this is where South Pacific vacation dreams are realized. Pure natural beauty, affordable luxury, and enriching activities—it’s all here. Known as the last bastion of Polynesian culture, Samoa is blessed with year-round warm weather (average 84°F/29°C).

And with its sparkling white sandy beaches, stunning waterfalls, tropical rainforests, and vibrant gardens, it’s the perfect destination for your off-the-radar getaway—where you can truly unplug and reconnect with nature, yourself, or with the one you love.

Referred to as “the treasured islands of the Pacific,” Samoa is made up of 10 islands offering distinct and varied environments to explore and is generally untouched by Westernization. Blissfully remote, it’s located just two and a half hours from Fiji or six hours from Hawaii on Fiji Airways and four hours from New Zealand on Air New Zealand.

Samoa is brimming with a unique culture that’s 3,000 years in the making. Get to know Fa’a Samoa—the Samoan Way—which has an emphasis on family, service, and respect of elders to guide everyday life. There’s no better place to see Fa’a Samoa in action than at the Samoan Cultural Village in Apia, Samoa’s capital. Learn about cultural practices and arts, witness a traditional ‘Ava ceremony or Tatau (tattoo) application, and see the making of Tapa—colorful printed cloth made from the inner bark of the paper mulberry tree. You may also have an opportunity to participate in a celebratory Fia Fia Night, complete with traditional buffet and entertainment featuring beautiful songs, graceful dances, and the mesmerizing Siva Afi dance—the fire knife dance.

Samoa’s stunning natural attractions will blow you away, beginning with the impressive Alofaaga Blowholes. Every few seconds a roaring jet of water shoots hundreds of feet up into the air, and it’s definitely not something you see every day. Next, watch thousands of gallons of water flow down from high above at the Afu Aau Waterfall, plunging from the rainforest deep into a fresh-water pool that’s perfect for an afternoon dip. Then, make your way to the famed To-Sua Trench. A unique land formation consisting of two giant holes connected by a lava tube, the To-Sua Trench is Samoa’s number one attraction. No visit to Samoa is complete without a day at the beach, and Lalomanu Beach on the southeastern tip of Upolu has “come and unwind in paradise” written all over it. As one of Samoa’s most pristine beaches, these sugary white sands are easy to love but hard to leave. For an even more remote island experience, make your way to Namu'a Island, a small island approximately five minutes by boat from the east coast of Upolu. There are no cars or hotels on the island, which makes it ideal for sunning, snorkelling, and sea kayaking amongst turtles and other sea life.

An ideal visit to Samoa involves a healthy mix of laid-back relaxation and engaging activities that cater to your adventurous spirit. Beyond soaking up Samoa’s jaw-dropping natural beauty, you’ll want to fully immerse yourself in this tropical paradise. Calm, crystal-clear waters beckon swimmers, surfers, and paddlers. And treasures lie below the surface for snorkellers and divers: a rainbow of sea life, underwater caves, and winding corals are just begging to be explored. On land, set off on a guided hike or mountain bike ride along rugged jungle trails, stopping to snap photos of cascading waterfalls and peaceful lagoons. But if you’d rather take things easy, lounging poolside or indulging in a relaxing spa treatment can be just as invigorating for mind, body, and spirit.

You should try a Zen meditation session. Imagine slipping into a silk kimono for the day—carefully tied by an expert dresser, every fold precise, every colour chosen to suit the season. It’s a ritual that feels as personal as it is timeless.

What do I love about Japan? In a word - EVERYTHING. The incredible contrast that Japan offers - new/innovative vs old/traditional, the warm and welcoming people, the incredible rich culture, the culinary wonders awaiting around every corner, the cleanliness, efficiency and safety. It's one of the best places to visit in Asia in my opinion.

Pub Street in Siem Reap, Cambodia, is a local favourite with very inexpensive drinks. It's also a great place to try the local delicacy, BBQ frog.

I love how laidback and relaxed Laos is compared to other countries in Southeast Asia. It's like the best of Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand all rolled into one, and then sent back in time 20 to 30 years.

As a travel agent, it was very easy to work with Goway. They were very responsive, especially Osvaldo Gonzalez, even when the client wanted to make in-destination changes a day or two prior. My clients absolutely enjoyed everything about their trip to Costa Rica - they specifically mentioned that all the drivers and guides they had were excellent, friendly, and knowledgeable. I would not hesitate to use Goway again for a custom trip to Costa Rica. Shawna Woods Roy

We, three couples, all enjoyed our time in Peru, despite the small amount of time we had, and the fact one person had injury while on the cruise prior to arriving in Lima. We did want to experience Machu Picchu without spending as many days as others usually do, since we had been traveling prior to that already. Kajal at Goway was able to tailor a well packed three-day private tour for our small group of six. Every detail, from the moment we got off the cruise ship, to Cusco, to Machu Picchu, and back to Lima airport hotel, was well taken care of. Kajal was very efficient in helping with the requested itinerary, and in staying on desired budget, as well answered all questions in timely fashion. We were able to accomplish what we were not sure if possible, all thanks to Kajal at Goway. Our experience in Peru was very positive. We felt the tours organized by Goway had enabled us to have great and impressive exposure to Peruvian culture and important historical sights - all 31 hours in 3 days!!! Condor Travel in Peru took care of us every step of the way. Every person we came across was very courteous, willing, and helpful. Help was always there and questions answered quickly via Whatsapp. All in all a great and positive experience we would highly recommend.KM

Mary G. was an absolute pleasure to work with. I partner with Goway often for Europe and typically have my go to rep, so stepping outside of that for a New Zealand itinerary had me a little unsure at first. That hesitation quickly disappeared. Mary stepped in with confidence, handled all of my moving pieces with ease, and truly understood the level of detail I needed to take care of my clients. She delivered a beautifully curated itinerary that exceeded expectations, and most importantly, my clients had an incredible experience in New Zealand. I’m so grateful to have her as a resource and look forward to working together again.Nichole Pierce

Joanna was amazing!!! She was able to set up a ten day trip for me in Sydney in a matter of a couple of weeks. All accommodation and tours were amazing and the 24 hour help center was great and where able to call up the tour company and have them come and still pick be up when I had a mixup with the reservation. Would definitely recommend Goway to any friends and family and will definitely be using them again.Erica Wolff

I cannot sing Erin’s praises enough! She planned an action-packed two-week New Zealand itinerary that hit every single stop on our bucket list. Every experience was truly first-class and luxurious. While I found myself being price-conscious initially, once I saw the incredible quality of the experiences she curated, I knew it was going to be the trip of a lifetime. A huge thank you to Erin and Go Way Travel for making my 50th birthday so epic. We’ll definitely be reaching out for our next big adventure!Michelle

I booked this trip to Adelaide with Goway, after using them before when we explored the 'big' sites of Australia. This time, we went to Adelaide to go to three of the top wine growing areas for wine tastings. We were a small group of 4 people. It was made better as the vendor used Small Batch Wine Tours for all of our excursions. They were fantastic making us the only travelers on these tours. Matthew, the owner, even adjusted our wineries on the last day to go to different place. This place totally marked off everything we were looking for in wine. Ended up buying a couple of bottles. Between Goway setting it up and Small Batch Wine Tours running the actual tours we had a beautiful and seamless trip. not applicable
