Overview

Take a trip to Nuku Alofa on your Tonga Vacation

Nuku’alofa is Tonga’s capital and largest city, located on the north coast of the island of Tongatapu. Nuku’alofa harbour is the only deep-water harbour of the island, which determined its selection as the site for the capital. Basically it is the central hub on a Tonga vacation for getting around the island of Tongatapu. One can rent a car or motor bike here to explore the island as most attractions are not in Nuku’alofa.

Globetrotters should try to experience The Gorilla Naming Ceremony : Culturally, the naming of an infant is a big affair, and Rwanda has adopted the same cultural event with the New-born Mountain Gorillas, as way to highlight the need to protect these gentle giants that were on the verge of being hunted to extinction.
