Overview
Take a trip to Ohio on your United States Vacation
Ohio is a state in the Midwestern region of the United States. Ohio is bounded by the Ohio River and, to the north, has 312 miles (502 km) of coastline with Lake Erie.
Large cities include Cleveland, Cincinnati, Toledo, and the state's capital, Columbus, with its historic district and impressive Victorian mansions. Cleveland is home to several major league sports teams, as well as the cannot-miss Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The Lake Erie Coastal Ohio Trail is an American scenic byway that weaves along the southern shore of Lake Erie for 293 miles. The byway offers stops at beaches, state parks, nature preserves, lighthouses, vacation islands, pretty villages and big cities. Other Ohio tourist must-do’s include Cedar Park – voted “Best Amusement Park in America” – Kings Island roller coaster, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Amish Country, the National Veterans Memorial and Museum, the National Aviation Heritage Area, the Butler Institute of American Art, and Sun Watch Indian Village/Archaeological Park.
Outdoors enthusiasts come for the state’s 75 state parks and Ohio’s only national park, Cuyahoga Valley National Park, offering a scenic railroad ride, hiking and biking trails, watersports, and historic Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trial. Others come to fish for walleye and pike in one of the state’s 110 natural large lakes.
