What's your favourite place to visit in Peru?
It's the obvious choice, but my favourite place in Peru is Machu Picchu. The incredible Inca citadel is unlike any other landmark on the planet.
What's a unique tour option in Peru?
Flying over the Nazca Lines. Ancient peoples drew enormous geoglyphs into the ground of the southern coastal desert of Peru. You can only see what these people designed when viewed from the air.
What's a hidden gem in Peru that more people should know about?
The Peruvian Amazon. The Amazon rainforest might not be the first thing people think of when they think of Peru, but you can explore a significant part of the world's largest rainforest by connecting to the jungle from Iquitos.
What's a famous landmark that people shouldn't miss?
Aside from Machu Picchu, the obvious choice, I'd say the wider Sacred Valley of the Incas. There are many fascinating Incan landmarks here beyond Machu Picchu, from the agricultural terraces of Moray to the fortress of Ollantaytambo.
When's the best time to visit Peru?
The dry season from May to October, which offers your mildest conditions for hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
What's something more travellers should know about Peru?
That it's not all just Machu Picchu and Incan ruins. Peru has a world-class food scene, a massive coastline, and dense rainforests. There's so much to see here beyond the fascinating historical sites.
What's a common misconception about Peru?
That it is very unsafe to travel to. Many Latin American countries have a bad rap when it comes to safety. In fact, Peru is very safe at the major tourist sites.
What's your favourite place to stay in Peru?
The ancient Inca capital of Cusco has stunning architecture, rich cultural influence, lively markets and cuisine, and even great nightlife. It's much more than a gateway to the Sacred Valley.
What's the top food or drink in Peru that you'd recommend?
Alpaca, which is an extremely lean meat, and pisco sour, the national drink made from blending grape brandy called pisco, egg whites, and lime.
