FIRST-CLASS | TAILOR-MADE: A hiking adventure through the heart of Patagonia, witness the splendour of Torres del Paine in Chile, the Rio Blanco Trail, Piedras Blances Glacier and Lake Argentino in Argentina. After adventurous days on the trails, relax in the comfort of first-class Patagonian camps and lodges.

This 8-day tour takes you to the highlights of Patagonia in Chile and Argentina.

Patagonia is a vast region at the southern tip of South America. While its landscape shifts between the peaks of the South Andes, deserts and grasslands, its unifying attribute is its sparseness. Patagonia is incredibly empty. It is also cool, dry and one of the best hiking regions in the world.

Your journey through Patagonia begins in Punta Arenas near the southern tip of Chile, which acts as the gateway to Torres del Paine National Park. On your way to the park, stop at the prehistoric cave, Cueva de Milodon, where you can see the remains of a giant ground sloth that inhabited the region over 10,000 years ago. Torres del Paine National Park is defined by the Towers, three monoliths that rise almost 2,900 metres high and adorn most photographs of the region. Hike to their base and witness a natural majesty that even great photographs cannot capture. As you make that trek, you’ll pass through the beech forests and cross the small rivers of the Ascencio Valley.

Head west to see the lakes and glaciers of Torres del Paine National Park. Watch the waters of Lake Nordenskjol spill over the Salto Grande Waterfall into Lake Pehoe. Travel up to the base of Glacier Grey to see the beginning of the South Patagonian Ice Field. Throughout your time in the park, keep your eyes peeled for its natural residents, including Patagonian foxes, caracaras, South Andean deer and the llama-like guanacos.

After enjoying the natural wonders of Torres del Paine, cross over into Argentina and head to El Chalten, a small outpost near Los Glaciers National Park and Mount Fitz Roy. Hike the Rio Blanco Trail up to Piedras Blances Glacier and witness a spectacular view of Mount Fitz Roy. Head up to Laguna Torre to see icebergs float down to the coast, propelled by the wind. Summit the north face of Glacier Perito Moreno to view the stunning glacier from a unique vantage point. Take a nautical safari across Lake Argentino and watch ice chunks calve off the glaciers and into the water.

This tour takes nature lovers through the heart of one of the most beautiful landscapes on the planet.

Day 2

Trek Towers Base

Walk from Ecocamp towards Hosteris Las Torres and join the uphill path to Ascencio Valley on the Tower's eastern face. Dry mountain spots, beech forests and small rivers line the scenic walk towards the valley. The big challenge comes as you climb the steep moraine, a mass of boulders leading towards one of the world's most famous views overlooking the Towers. The famous Torres del Paine (2,900 m/ 9,400 ft) consist of three gigantic granite monoliths, the remains of a great cirque sheared away by the forces of glacial ice. After an uphill slog, the Towers eventually come into full view, rising majestically before you, with the glacial lake visible below. Is there any better place in the world to have lunch? After lunch, backtrack along the same trail through Ascencio Valley and return to EcoCamp.

Day 3

Western Lakes and Grey Glacier

Drive across the Park, admiring the view of Paine Grande and its snowy peaks, and Los Cuernos with their black, granite horn-like spires. Walking along the shores of the stunning Lake Pehoe, see the furious Salto Grande waterfalls where the water from Lake Nordenskjold cascades down into Pehoe. The walk continues over the gentle Nordenskjold trail until you reach its spectacular lookout point. Later, back at Lake Pehoe, you will be driven south to a beach along the shores of glacial Lake Grey. Here, enjoy a tasty box-lunch by the lake before embarking on a boat ride across the icy waters to the towering blue walls of Glacier Grey. After this incredible sight of the glacier up close, drive back to EcoCamp.

In the case that the boat trip to Glacier Grey is cancelled (weather and passenger dependant), you will enjoy an alternative excursion in the Park.

Continue to the footbridges and take a break, enjoying the surroundings at your own leisure.
