DELUXE | PRIVATE-GUIDED: Discover award-winning flavours and priceless artifacts as you explore Peru. Journey from Lima, one of the world’s great culinary capitals, to the Peruvian Amazon, where you’ll float in luxury for 4 nights, to the Sacred Valley of the Incas and indomitable Machu Picchu. Where's your bucket list? Time to cross off a big one.

This 15-day Peruvian vacation takes you throughout the country to Lima, the Amazon Rainforest, the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Cusco, and Machu Picchu. It features deluxe accommodations and a mix of private and shared tours.

Your journey begins in Lima, the capital of Peru and one of the world’s leading culinary cities. A city tour will introduce you to many of the highlights, including the Spanish colonial Plaza de Armas and Convent of Santo Domingo, and the Museo Larco, which has one of the world’s greatest collections of pre-Columbian art, including a cheeky erotic collection. The next day, discover the cultural side of the city with a walking tour through bohemian Barranco before learning to make two Peruvian staples in Miraflores: ceviche and pisco sour. Then enjoy lunch amidst the ruins of a pre-Incan pyramid.

Fly north to Iquitos, the gateway to the Peruvian Amazon. Transfer onto the MV Aria, an intimate, impeccably-designed cruise vessel that will be your home for the next four nights. Enjoy smooth cruising as you spend several days exploring the Amazon Rainforest and surrounding waterways. Take a skiff out onto the black waters of the Yanallpa River and hike into the forest to spot colourful macaws. Search for nocturnal animals, like caimans, along the El Dorado River at dusk. Ride a skiff onto the Ucayali River and meet pink river dolphins near the port of Requena. You’ll also visit a remote Amazonian village to meet with Indigenous villagers and stop by the Manatee Rescue Centre to learn about animal conservation before ending your Amazon adventure and flying back to Lima.

After another night in Lima, fly onwards to Cusco and descend into the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Visit the leisure ranch of Hacienda Sarapampa to learn about corn farming before reaching your exquisite hotel in the valley. During your time in the Sacred Valley, you’ll head to the Skylodge Adventure Suites, gravity-defying hotel rooms suspended from high above the valley. Enjoy lunch in one of the suites before ziplining down to the valley below. Spend another day in the company of Indigenous farmers in the community of Misminay, learning about traditional farming practices and textile production.

End your time in the valley by exploring the Incan fortress of Ollantaytambo, constructed on the mountainside above the town of the same name. Afterwards, board the Vistadome train to ride to Aguas Calientes at the foot of Machu Picchu. Take the bus up the mountain and enjoy lunch at the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge, mere steps from the ruins, before touring the breathtaking mountaintop ruins for yourself. Rise early the next morning for another visit to Machu Picchu to explore the ruins thoroughly and drink in the intoxicating atmosphere. Then ride the Hiram Bingham train back to Cusco, enjoying dinner service on board. Your final full day in Peru is spent exploring Cusco, the former capital of the Inca Empire. You’ll tour San Pedro Market, the ancient temple of Qorikancha, and the ruins of Sacsayhuaman, which overlook the town. Cap off your vacation with dinner at the tapas restaurant, Cicciolina, one of the city’s best restaurants and wine bars.

At the end of your stay, fly back to Lima for onward travels.

Cusco, San Pedro Market, Sacsayhuaman & Dinner at Cicciolina

Known as the Imperial City and once the Incan capital, Cusco has been a declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Your encompassing tour begins at San Pedro Market, a local favorite where you can explore the colors, flavors and traditions of modern Cusco alongside sights and sounds dating back to Incan times. The tour then continues to Koricancha Temple, an ancient Incan palace. Only discovered after an earthquake revealed the ruins below the Dominican church on top, the temple was the center for the worshipping of the Sun God, the central spiritual deity of the Inca’s. Later, continue to the Fortress of Sacsayhuaman, an impressive example of Incan military architecture. Wonder at the masonry work while remembering the Inca’s did not utilize the wheel, so these stones - some over 30 feet tall - were man-handled precisely into place. Next, explore the mysterious Q'enqo archeological site, and soon after, return to the city to reach the Plaza de Armas of Cusco, where you will visit the Cathedral, built on the foundations of an Incan temple. In the evening and after a few hours at leisure, your guide will meet you in your hotel lobby to escort you to Cicciolina. One of the city’s premier restaurants, and in fact, one of the best in the country (and therefore the world!), settle in for one final gastronomic treat as you dine at Cicciolina on this, your last evening in magnificent Peru.
