Hidden Powers & Northern Lights Coach Tour

Duration
6 Days
Prices From:
US$ 1,939

MODERATE | ESCORTED COACH TOUR: Explore the natural wonders of Iceland on this coach tour beginning and ending in Reykjavik. During your journey across the island nation, you’ll gaze upon the Golden Waterfall of Gullfoss, explore the area surrounding Eyjafjallajokull Volcano, and venture to the face of Vatnajokull Glacier, all beneath the living northern sky.

This 6-day Icelandic tour takes you to volcanoes, waterfalls, glaciers, and geysers, beginning and ending in Reykjavik. It features first-class accommodations, shared tours, and is an ideal first trip to Iceland.

Begin your journey with an overnight stay in Reykjavik, the Icelandic capital and one of the most eclectic capital cities in the world. After your evening introduction, visit the Northern Lights Centre the following morning to learn about the ethereal Aurora Borealis, which lights up the Icelandic sky at regular intervals. Hopefully you’ll be lucky enough to see it during your visit. Leave Reykjavik behind and head into Thingvellir National Park, where you’ll see the original site of the Icelandic Parliament. Continue to Geysir, home to the bubbling mud pools and spouting geysers that birthed the name. Cap off your day at Gullfoss, the Golden Waterfall that’s one of the mightiest in Europe.

Head to the base of Eyjafjallajokull, the volcano that shut down international air traffic when it erupted in 2010. After learning about its eruption and the impact on the surrounding landscape, pass the waterfalls of Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss on route to the Atlantic Ocean. Spend your final full day in Skaftafell National Park, the largest national park in Europe, before heading up to the face of Vatnajokull Glacier, the largest icecap in Europe.

On your final morning, stop by the Blue Lagoon to warm and refresh yourself in the natural hot springs before returning to Reykjavik to connect back home.

Day 5

Hveragerdi to Reykjavik

Head towards the village of Hveragerdi, which is one of the few sites in the world located directly in the middle of a geothermal area. Hveragerdi is often called "The Flower Village" because of its many greenhouses heated by hot water from nearby springs. The tour then continues to Strandarkirkja, a church that is widely believed to have special power to aid success or provide good luck. Follow along the coastline with its breathtaking waves and through a deserted community that once was a flourishing centre for the region.
