Located on the Israeli Mediterranean coastline in central-west Israel is Tel Aviv, the country’s second most populous city. With the UN and many international communities refusing to acknowledge Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, Tel Aviv is home to most foreign embassies. It is an interesting city which should be included in an Israel vacation

Tel Aviv was established on the outskirts of Jaffa, an ancient port city, in 1909. Settled by a Jewish community, Jewish immigration into Tel Aviv began to increase. The rapid growth that accompanied immigration meant that Tel Aviv outpaced Jaffa and its Arab majority. It was in this city that David Ben Gurion declared the independence of the State of Israel in 1948. Two years later, Tel Aviv and Jaffa were united into one municipality.

As well as being an economic hub, Tel Aviv is Israel’s centre for culture and entertainment. Known as “the city that doesn’t stop”, the nightlife is second to none. In sharp contrast to Jerusalem, Tel Aviv is a very liberal city with a large LGBT community. The White City, near the city centre, was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of the Bauhaus architectural style found there. The west side of Tel Aviv is the coastline with beaches that are popular with locals and tourists alike on Israeli trips.

Tel Aviv is a truly exciting city that is different from any other destination both in Israel and the Middle East to be enjoyed on Tel Aviv tours
