Overview

Take a trip to Luoyang on your China Vacation

Surrounded by mountains and plains, Luoyang is situated in central China, along the northern side of the Luo River. The city plays an important role in Chinese history due to its geographic location, has made it an essential domestic junction which today features a well-developed transport system to be experienced on China tours.

In ancient times, 13 dynasties selected Luoyang as China’s capital, enabling a period of growth and prosperity, and ranking it as a metropolitan city on tours to China.

Once a place rich in religious culture, Luoyang is the birthplace of Taoism, and was the first to get a Buddhist temple called the White Horse Temple, founded in the first century AD. Scientific inventions were born in Luoyang such as the seismograph, armillary sphere, paper making, printing, and the compass.

Luoyang has rich historical and cultural sites including the Longmen Grottos, one of China’s three most precious treasure houses of stone sculptures and inscriptions. The landscapes are just as attractive as the cultural sites, with scenic areas such as White Cloud Mountain, Funiu Mountain, Long Yu Wan National Forest Park, Ji Guan Limestone Cave, and the Yellow River Xiaolangdi Scenic Area, all to be enjoyed on a China vacation

Horticulturally, Luoyang is famous for its peonies and attracts tourists from all over the world in April when it’s at its blossoms.

Luoyang provides a real insight into ancient Chinese civilization and culture on China tour packages.

It is very enjoyable to travel in China by high-speed train, but you should avoid travelling during the National Holidays from October 1 to 7 and from May 1 to 4, as they get extra busy.

Jinxian Road in Shanghai is a small road but full of superb, Michelin-recognized restaurants. I highly recommend visiting here on your travels to China.

China's many beautiful natural sights and rich cultural areas are what I love most about visiting. Some of my personal favourites are Yunnan's Shangri-La, Xinjiang, Zhangjiajie, and the 5 Great Mountains.
