Start the afternoon with a visit to Pura Taman Ayun, a 17th century temple renowned for its stunning traditional Balinese architecture, manicured gardens, and serene lotus ponds. Continue to visit a Monkey Forest where monkeys roam freely in their own sacred forest. Next drive to the stunning coastal Tanah Lot temple located on a rock island in the sea. Without a doubt the most famous and photographed place in Bali, this sacred Hindu temple sits majestically on a large offshore rock which has been shaped over the years by the crashing waves of the surrounding sea.

Explore Yogyakarta

After breakfast, drive to the 9th Century Prambanan Temple. This UNESCO World Heritage Site consists of many temples with sharp, jaggedly sculpted towers, the tallest of which rises a staggering 47 meters into the sky. As you walk, your guide will take you through the fascinating history, legends and symbolism behind these temples. Next, visit the Sultan's Palace, constructed in 17th century, is a fine example of traditional Javanese sultanate architecture. As the residence of the Sultan, this living museum features a showcase of Javanese culture and relics, and depending on your day of visiting there will be a cultural performance. Also visit Taman Sari Water Palace, the addition to the royal complex which was built over 200 years ago by the first Sultan with bathing pools for his harem. After lunch, you will visit a home batik, as well as a small artisan Wayang Kulit home (the famous Javanese leather puppet) where a short demonstration will be performed.

Yogyakarta to Borobudur

After breakfast, drive to and explore the awe inspiring UNESCO World Heritage Site of Borobudur. The colossal Buddhist monument was built by hand from thousands of volcanic and river stone blocks during the 8th and 9th centuries. Some 432 serene faced Buddha images stare out over the surrounding rice fields and distant mountains. Nearby is the exquisite Mendut Temple, even older than Borobudur. Here, you can see three magnificent and well preserved carved stone statues set inside the pyramid shaped temple. At Pawon Temple admire the relief panels and beautiful architecture of this small and solitary Javanese temple. After lunch at a local restaurant, check-in at hotel in Borobudur area. Rest of the day at leisure.

Borobudur to Purwokerto

Depart Borobudur after breakfast and drive to Purwokerto via Wonosobo and Baturaden. On the way, enjoy the cooler temperature and the views of the rugged landscape on the steep sides of the active volcanoes. Pass by locals who come down from the villages to sell their locally grown vegetables on the roadside. Stop to explore the Dieng Temples, the oldest surviving religious structures ever built in Java. Take a walk around the temple ruins and photograph the surrounding scenery. From Dieng temples, continue your drive to Baturaden, a nature attraction with waterfall and lakes near Purwokerto. Located on the slopes of Mount Slamet, Baturaden's cool air and green trees make it a great place to stop and relax. From Baturaden, a short drive will take you to Purwokerto for overnight.

Purwokerto to Bandung

Today's drive is through beautiful landscape of Central & West Java (approx. 7-8 hours). Leaving Purwokerto early morning, the highlight today is Kampung Naga, one of the little original Sundanese villages in West Java. Along the way several stops will be made. After several hours drive you will arrive at Kampung Naga, a village that is inhabited by a group of people who are very strong in adhering to the customs passed down from their forefathers, rooted in the traditional beliefs of the Sundanese people. They follow specific rules and regulations in their everyday life, including guidelines on constructing houses and the materials permitted for use. As most of the villagers are farmers, they hold deep reverence for nature and its bountiful gifts. The guide will take you to walk around the village and witness the beautiful landscape and their "back-to-nature" life. From Kampung Naga, continue the drive to Bandung, the capital of West Java. As you approach the city, the road gradually becomes more bustling. Bandung, often referred to as the "Paris van Java," enjoys widespread popularity in Indonesia due to its local fashion brands, while its numerous art-deco city buildings leave a lasting impression on visitors. Arrive at your hotel in the evening, check-in and rest.
