Koh Samui is an island in the province of Surat Thani, situated in the Gulf of Thailand. Located 700 km south of Bangkok, the island is 80kms from the eastern coastline of South Thailand.
With an area of 229 sq km, Koh Samui is Thailand’s third largest island. The island’s centre features an uninhabitable mountain, Khao Pom, which peaks at 635m, while a 51 km road encircles most of the island. Koh Samui’s old capital, Nathon, located on the northwest coast, is the island’s commercial hub and features a major port for fishing and transportation.
Believed to have been inhabited 15 centuries ago by fishermen from the Malay Peninsula and Southern China, Koh Samui grew into an isolated, self-sufficient community. Eventually, tourism prevailed as the island’s main industry, alongside the export of coconuts and rubber.
Consistently expanding with the development of hotels and restaurants, Koh Samui’s primary beaches such as Lamai Beach, Chaweng Beach, and Bophut (Fisherman’s Village), are now considered small towns of their own on trips to Thailand.
Surrounding Koh Samui is 60 smaller islands, all part of Ang Thong Marine National Park and feature ideal places for diving, snorkeling, as well as other water sports, made mostly accessible from Chewang Beach.
Koh Samui is now the second largest resort industry in Thailand after Bangkok. Surpassing Phuket, its white sandy beaches, crystal emerald waters, resorts, bungalows, private villas on the island, and various local attractions, all make this tropical destination on a Thai vacation a wonderful place for beach lovers looking for a tranquil place for relaxation for be experienced on Koh Samui tours.

Thailand is a friendly destination with fun & warm people, great food, and impressive cultural and beach experiences. Simply wandering neighbourhoods, visiting temples, shops & viewpoints, and eating at local restaurants are what I enjoy most when visiting Thailand. My husband, Keith, and I dreamed of visiting China for more than 30 years and Leo helped make that dream an unforgettable blessing. He was more than a tour guide. He was a wonderful teacher, a caring soul, and a blessing from God.
His knowledge of Chinese history and culture was remarkable from the terra-cotta warriors to the ANCIENT city wall, the Monastery, and the local art gallery, Leo brought every experience to life. He taught us so much and helped us appreciate the beauty and history of China in ways we will never forget.

This trip was the 9 day all Ireland tour which covered both north & south Ireland. The tour was operated by Rabbies tours whom we used in Scotland and the 16 passenger van only had 6 passengers including us.Other than a couple of days the weather was prety good although the wind did get a bit wild. The pub food was delicious & i got a taste for real Guiness. We spent a few extra days in Dublin and found it very expensive, the excange rate didn't help.
