Overview

Take a trip to Blue Mountains on your Australia Vacation

Located just one hour outside Sydney the region of the Blue Mountains is a World Heritage Site filled with tall forests, canyons, sandstone cliffs, bushland and rainforests. It derives its name from a blue haze that falls over the mountains and which is actually a mist of oil released by the eucalyptus trees. Something that will keep you gazing at it on an Australia vacation is the Three Sisters, a massive rock trio named after an aboriginal legend eroded into interesting and dramatic shapes.

The Jenolan Caves, a vast network of limestone caves of which ten are open to the public, have underground rivers and chambers where you can walk on trails One is to a shallow cave in the Aboriginal campsite of Lyrebird Dell that has existed for some 12, 000 years.

You can also walk the historic six-foot track to Katoomba. Katoomba is the chief town in the Blue Mountains and is known for its heritage buildings. It is also the place to stay if you wish to linger longer in this area on an Australian vacation. Close by is the Katoomba Scenic Railway, the world’s steepest cable-driven funicular railway offering amazing views of the region.

At Goway we feel that no trip to Sydney and the state of New South Wales is complete unless it includes one of our Blue Mountains tours. C’mon say G’day Downunder. Book one of our Australia vacation packages today and start exploring!

Sydney and Melbourne are a great combination for first-time visitors to Australia, with Brisbane, Adelaide and/or the Outback added in, depending on how much time you have. Returnees should take in Perth, Darwin and the Kakadu National Park area and/or Tasmania if they can, plus spend some time in the cities they loved the first time around
