Overview

Take a trip to Hunter Valley on your Australia vacation.

The Hunter Valley is a wine-producing region situated in the state of New South Wales 120 kilometres/75 miles north of Sydney. It has the largest river valleys along the New South Wales coast and is known as Australia’s oldest wine region. This particular wine region has over 120 wineries that have produced many fine wines that are internationally recognized, the best known being the Semillon and Shiraz varieties. Try some samples on your Australia vacation.

When visiting the Hunter Valley on trips to Australia, sample fine wines while enjoying the locally grown food in the many restaurants here and admiring the quaint ambiance of the area. Outside of the wine region, there are nearby places to visit such as the city of Newcastle which boasts a rich history, diverse culture, and picturesque scenery with its coastal beaches.

Activities other than tasting or buying wine are taking a cruise on the Hunter River or Lake Macquarie or a ride on a steam train at the Richmond Vale Railway Museum. The Hunter Valley Gardens has 25 acres of colourful and fragrant flowers. One can also play golf, go horseback riding or have hot air ballooning. And a consideration might be to stay in one of the pleasant country guesthouses that exist here on an Australian vacation.

So when visiting Sydney why not include one of our Hunter Valley tours and enjoy Australia's oldest winemaking region? C’mon say G’day Downunder. Book one of our Australia vacations today and start exploring!

Sydney and Melbourne are a great combination for first-time visitors to Australia, with Brisbane, Adelaide and/or the Outback added in, depending on how much time you have. Returnees should take in Perth, Darwin and the Kakadu National Park area and/or Tasmania if they can, plus spend some time in the cities they loved the first time around
