Take an exclusive 3-hour private walking tour of Italy's capital city, Rome. This tour includes a visit to some of the most famous squares in the centre of the city such as the Spanish Square and its famous Spanish steps, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Colonna, the Pantheon and Navona Square. Unless closed for religious ceremonies, a visit to some of Rome's traditional Catholic churches may be included in the walking tour, for example, the Church of St. Ignatius or the Church of St. Louis.

Your Semi-Private Early Morning Vatican Tour will begin near the Vatican Museums' entrance. Here you will meet your professional and charismatic tour guide. The tour will begin with the Pinecone Courtyard and Octagonal Courtyard. Learn about the greatest statues of antiquity. From the mysterious composition of the Greek statue of the Laocoon, to the Apollo Belvedere and the Belvedere Torso, which despite its ruined state, inspired generations of artists. Then, stop to admire the art and decoration of the Gallery of the Maps and the Gallery of the Tapestries. Then, onto to the world-renowned Sistine Chapel, Michelangelo's masterpiece. Because this Chapel is the number one attraction inside the Vatican, LivTours believes it is important to give guests the time and space they need to fully appreciate it. Stand in amazement as you gaze onto Michelangelo's awe-inspiring ceiling frescoes. Wonder over the breathtaking "The Last Judgement" before the major surge of crowds. Your tour will continue by visiting the Raphael Rooms before the rush of tourists. Guests will be privy to some of the most important works of art in the museum -- all without the rush of the usual crowds around them. Once you're done, you'll head directly into St. Peter's Basilica. This VIP access saves time and allows you to skip-the-line. Once inside, you'll be greeted by the breathtaking space, which is the largest Catholic church in the world. Two of the glorious works of art that you will get to see up close include Michelangelo's Pietà and Bernini's Baldacchino. Before you leave St. Peter's Basilica, your guide will tell you about the Papal Tombs and share how to access the dome of St. Peter's. Conclude your Early Morning Vatican Tour by walking around Piazza San Pietro Square and taking in the grandeur that is St. Peter's.

Private Catacombs Tour

From the car have a panoramic view of Caracalla's Bath, the Old Appian way and the Domine Quo Vadis chapel. According to the day, as each Catacomb has a free day in which it is closed, go either to San Callisto's or Santa Domitilla's or San Sebastian's catacombs. If it is not closed due to religious services, the tour will end in the church of San Pietro in Vincoli, to admire the famous Moses of Michelangelo. As an alternative, a visit to Catacombs of Santa Priscilla can also be arranged which is well known from all the ancient topographic and liturgical sources and are located on the Via Salaria, with the entrance in the cloister of the ancient convent of Benedictine Sisters of Priscilla. Because of the great number of martyrs buried within, it was called “regina catacumbarum”, the queen of the catacombs.

The Best of the Colosseum with Arena Access

On this small day excursion, the Colosseum and Ancient Rome with Exclusive Arena Access, is the perfect way to explore Ancient Rome. This excursion gives you skip-the-line access into the Colosseum where you will step out onto the restricted arena floor. Visit the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and Roman Forum with an expert tour guide in a small group. After passing through security, you will walk through the Gladiators Gate to the Colosseum's exclusive arena floor and step out directly onto the same level where the gladiators would fight. It's an incredible perspective that is only possible for a limited number of visitors. From the restricted arena floor, you will also be up close to the Colosseum underground, having an unobstructed view of the fascinating dungeons where the shows were managed and coordinated. Once you have enjoyed exclusive access to the arena floor, your guide will lead you up to the second floor where you can enjoy the view from Caesar's balcony, hear amazing stories and anecdotes and get a better picture of what it all looked like thousands of years ago. After the visit to the Colosseum, you will walk towards another magnificent archaeological site, the nearby Palatine Hill and Roman Forum. Learn about the origins of Rome and the strategy that helped this ancient power grow, including a stunning view of the Circus Maximus and hear stories about Emperor Nero and the famous chariot races. The next stop is the Roman Forum, the political and commercial center of ancient Rome. The sheer size of the excavation site and the fascinating ruins of basilicas, political buildings, temples and more, will stimulate your imagination of the Roman life. This once-in-a-lifetime tour concludes with stories about the victorious parades of Roman soldiers as they passed through the magnificent arches to commemorate military triumphs and other significant events that have defined Ancient Rome.
