Best Time to Visit

Experience Jordan's diverse, captivating beauty year-round in every season.

Jordan offers diverse experiences year-round, making it a captivating destination for every season. Spring (March to May) is arguably the best time to explore Jordan. The weather is mild and comfortable, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F) in most areas. The landscape comes alive with blooming wildflowers, and outdoor adventures like hiking and exploring ancient ruins are particularly enjoyable during this season. Spring is perfect for a visit to Petra or embarking on a desert adventure in Wadi Rum.

Summers (June to August) in Jordan can be hot, with temperatures often soaring above 30°C (86°F) and even higher in the desert regions. While it's a great time for water activities in the Red Sea and the Dead Sea, it's advisable to stay hydrated and seek shade during the scorching midday sun. If you plan to explore Jordan's northern regions or the cooler hills around Amman, the heat is more manageable.

Autumn is another excellent time to visit Jordan, especially in September and October. The weather remains pleasant, making it ideal for outdoor excursions. The colours of the landscape begin to change as fall sets in, creating a picturesque backdrop for your adventures. The start of autumn is also the perfect time to experience Jordan's vibrant local culture and traditions.

Winter (December to February) in Jordan is relatively mild, but the temperature can drop, particularly in higher elevations like Petra. While it may not be suitable for swimming in the Red Sea, it's an excellent time for exploring historical sites and enjoying urban experiences in cities like Amman. Some travellers appreciate the cooler weather for their outdoor adventures in the desert as long as they are prepared for chilly nights.

When is the ideal time to visit?

Jordan is an ideal shoulder season destination, when you can avoid both the hot summer days and rainy winters. Aim for March to May, or September to November. While you’ll face bigger crowds at popular attractions like Petra, it’s a far more comfortable time to be in the country. Be mindful that if you visit during Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, many Jordanians will not eat or drink between sunrise and sunset, which may limit your own food and drink options.

When is Jordan’s peak tourist season?

Jordan’s peak tourist season runs from April to May, then again from September to October.

Which is the most affordable time to visit Jordan?

Jordan’s low season runs through the hot months from June to August. It’s the most affordable time to be in the country, but you’ll also face the brunt of Jordan’s summer heat, particularly in Petra and Wadi Rum. The winter months of January and February can also offer lower prices if you’re not turned off by things being chilly or rainy.

How long should I plan to visit Jordan?

It’s possible to see the highlights of Jordan in just over a week on a round-trip from Amman. The longer you’ll stay, the more you’ll see, but a week offers a comfortable introduction in this relatively compact country.

My destination specialist, Katie Stephenson was amazing from the onset. Her customer service, communication style and planning skills was so timely and top notch. Our trip was to Fiji, New Zealand and Australia, from Aug 4-22, 2026. The way she planned and booked the trip makes the experience convenient and enjoyable. The flexibility of payment makes the decision faster and attractive. Everything we need to know including contacts were readily available within our travel documents itinerary. Overall, I'll say it's money well spent and a lifetime experience particularly for my kids.Festus

We went on a highly customized comprehensive (though quick tour) of England and a bit of Scotland through Goway. Ingrid Aird did an amazing job of planning and arranging every detail with her deep experience, insight, thoughtfulness and creativity, tuning into the needs of each traveler; and she did so even though our decision to travel was rather spontaneous and last minute! Our family had the best time! We look forward to working with Ingrid and Goway again!Vilja Breiling

I can't tell you enough how much I love to work with Callie. She is a life saver and I love how attentive she is. Every time I give her an itinerary for a client- she really knocks it out of the park with the proposal. If there are any issues- she is on it right away. Her work ethic is outstanding.Michelle Labarca

We were trying to navigate Swiss Travel Center to book a 10 day train trip through Switzerland. It was exactly what we wanted but navigating their site was extremely difficult for us. Goway Travel picked up on our plight and put us in contact with Jacqueline Fagooli, one of their agents. From there on everything was so smooth. Their efficiency, communication, and thoroughness were beyond our expectations. The trip was fabulous and kudos to Jacqueline and Goway for their help in making it so.Carolyn McCormack
