Take a trip to Casablanca on your Chile Vacation
Something different on a Chile vacation will be a visit to Casablanca, or “White House” in English, a Chilean city located in the Valparaiso Province on Route 68, linking Santiago to Valparaiso.
For most of its history, the region that Casablanca covers was used for dairy farming, however, in the past thirty years, it has been transformed into Chile’s fastest-growing wine region. It began in 1982 when winemaker Pablo Morandé recognized that the conditions in Casablanca were similar to those found in California’s Carneros region. While many considered the idea to be crazy, Morandé planted twenty hectares of chardonnay, riesling and sauvignon blanc grapes. The result was crisp, fresh wines that gained appreciation around the world. Casablanca is now considered by many to be the great discovery in winemaking of the modern era and is responsible for producing most of Chile’s white wines.

Pastel de choclo, sweet corn baked over savoury meat, olives, and eggs, is a must-try. Pair it with a pisco sour or a glass of Carménère or Sauvignon Blanc.
Rapa Nui, also known as Easter Island, offers a profound spiritual connection to nature and culture. The night skies, volcanic landscapes, and iconic Moai statues make it one of the most isolated and romantic places on earth.
Chile’s diversity is unmatched. You can enjoy wine tasting in the Casablanca Valley, watch the sunset on the Pacific coast, stargaze in the Atacama Desert, trek the glaciers of Patagonia, and even escape to mystical Rapa Nui, all in one trip.
