Take a trip to Shanghai on your China Vacation
Shanghai is the country's most industrious and glamorous city on China tours. Rated as having the highest population in the country, this growing metropolis is a fascinating blend of cultures - old and new, as well as eastern and western. It is the most influential city in Eastern China economically, culturally, and technologically, and now boasts the world’s largest container trading port.
Shanghai doesn’t have a downtown core but rather urban centres which are scattered in various districts. The Huangpu River which is a tributary to the Yangtze River is the dividing line between Shanghai’s two major districts.
East of the Huangpu River is Pudong. Formerly an agricultural area, this rapidly-developing district is now the financial and economic hub of China. It features beautifully designed skyscrapers such as the Jin Mao building and World Financial Centre, as well as the landmark Pearl Tower.
Across Pudong on the west side of Huangpu River, is Puxi. Considered Shanghai’s cultural, residential, and commercial centre, Puxi is made up of smaller districts.
The Bund, located on the west bank of the river, is lined with colonial-era buildings and features Nanjing Road, a shopper’s paradise in China tour packages.
Visit Yu Yuan Garden in the Old City district. Once known as Shanghai’s most prestigious, this Suzhou-style garden was conceived during the Ming Dynasty. Its location provides ideal contrasting views of both ancient and modern architecture. To see other intricate, ornamental Chinese gardens, a day trip to Suzhou on China travel is highly recommended.

What do the experts say?
It is very enjoyable to travel in China by high-speed train, but you should avoid travelling during the National Holidays from October 1 to 7 and from May 1 to 4, as they get extra busy.
Jinxian Road in Shanghai is a small road but full of superb, Michelin-recognized restaurants. I highly recommend visiting here on your travels to China.
China's many beautiful natural sights and rich cultural areas are what I love most about visiting. Some of my personal favourites are Yunnan's Shangri-La, Xinjiang, Zhangjiajie, and the 5 Great Mountains.

Goway hires a local tour group, Jenman Safaris, to lead the safari in the 2 countries. The tour itself was amazing...the lodges that we stayed at were very nice and the food was great (except for one lodge's food). The Goway itinerary was slightly different than the actual Jenman Safari itinerary but most of the sites that we went to were the same as listed on the Goway itinerary.
