You'll have a chance to witness the guard changing ceremony there. This tradition has been performed for centuries in Korea and is a symbol of the nation's?rich culture and history. Continue your morning tour with a visit to the National Museum of Contemporary Korean History for insights into how Korea propelled itself from being an agricultural society to the modern economic powerhouse that it is today. The tour proceeds with a stop at Insadong Arts and Crafts Street, a highly renowned district in Seoul that serves as a vibrant hub for Korean traditional culture and craftsmanship. From there, walk to nearby Jogyesa Temple, the chief temple of Korean Zen Buddhism. This morning, transfer to the train station to take the high speed KTX train to Andong. The journey takes approximately 2 hours (no guide on the train). Andong is considered the spiritual and cultural heart of South Korea, known for its preservation of traditional Korean culture, customs, and architecture. Upon arrival, your guide will meet you at the train station and transfer you to the first stop on your Andong tour: Bongjeongsa Temple. The temple is an architectural gem, one of the oldest wooden buildings in South Korea and the country's largest temple. Gain insight into Korea's Buddhist culture as you explore the temple and the surrounding peaceful grounds, admiring its collection of Buddhist relics and observing local worshippers. Continue to the Dosan Seowon Confucian Academy. Established in 1574, this UNESCO-heritage academy has played a pivotal role in education and Confucian scholarship for more than four centuries. Next, visit the iconic Woryeonggyo Bridge, the longest wooden bridge in Korea. Take a walk along the pedestrian span, enjoying the views of Nakdonggang River and the surrounding hills. After dinner, transfer to Hahoe Hanok Village for a memorable overnight stay in a traditional Korean house.

“Experience the elegance of Korean culture” Following the success of Rakkojae Seoul Bukchon, Rakkojae Andong Hahoe opened its doors in 2009. The property embodies the meaning of its name : a place where one can enjoy the traditions of times past and rest one’s soul. On July 31, 2010 the Hahoe Folk Village was inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List, finally receiving international recognition for its culture value. The entire village has long been designated as Important Folk Property No.122 by the Korean government, for having preserved its ancient form and traditions for the past 600 years. It is a special place where nature itself is the tourist attraction. Located in front of the Hahoe Village ferry dock, Rakkojae Andong Hahoe consists of four separate “choga” houses : Anche, Byulche, Sarangche, and Munganche. Rakkojae Andong Hahoe is the only traditional accommodation in the Hahoe Folk Village where each room has its own private bathroom. Furthermore, the yellow-mud sauna located in the Munganche is being enjoyed by our guests as a healthy relaxation space. Begin the day with a visit to Seokguram Grotto. This UNESCO-listed site is a stone sanctuary that houses a serene statue of the Buddha seated in meditation, surrounded by intricately carved guardian deities. Set on a mountainside, the grotto offers not only spiritual significance but also stunning views over the East Sea on clear days. Next, continue to Bulguksa Temple, one of the most important Buddhist temples in Korea and also part of the same UNESCO World Heritage designation. Originally built during the Silla Dynasty, the temple was destroyed during the Japanese invasions in the 16th century and later rebuilt in the 17th century. Despite the loss of some original structures and treasures, the temple complex remains a remarkable example of Buddhist architecture and Silla craftsmanship. The afternoon tour continues to Gyeongju National Museum. With vast collections of artifacts, relics, and royal treasures, the museum features a comprehensive insight into the art, culture, and history of the Silla dynasty. Then visit Daereungwon tomb complex (Tumuli Park) to take a stroll and pay respects to the Silla rulers. Take a closer look at the Cheonmachong Tomb consists of a wooden coffin placed inside an underground chamber mounded with boulders and earth, characterized as a typical upper class tomb of the Silla period. Embark on the evening walk to the Woljeong Bridge,?and the historical "gateway" connecting the royal palaces of Silla to the south, on the Namcheon stream. End the walk at the Wolji pond, an artificial pond located in Gyeongju National Park and was part of the palace complex of the ancient Silla.

Depart Gyeongju by private vehicle and begin the journey south toward Busan, with several scenic and cultural stops along the way. The first stop is Tongdosa Temple, one of Korea’s most important and sacred temples. Known as the "Temple without a Buddha" for its lack of statues in the main hall, Tongdosa instead enshrines the relics of the historical Buddha himself. Surrounded by forested hills, the temple offers a peaceful and reflective atmosphere. From there, transfer to Cheongsapo Daritdol Observatory, a coastal walkway and glass-floored observatory extending into the sea. Enjoy sweeping ocean views before boarding the Blue Line Sky Capsule, a scenic ride along the coast from Cheongsapo to Mipo Station. This colourful, elevated rail offers a slow-paced journey with panoramic views of the shoreline. Upon arrival at Mipo Station, continue by vehicle to Busan X the Sky, an observation deck located in the upper floors of the Haeundae LCT Tower. From here, take in breathtaking views of the ocean and city skyline from nearly 400 metres above sea level. Enjoy a short break at Haeundae Beach, one of Korea’s most iconic beaches, before finishing the day with a visit to Dongbaekseom Island. Stroll along the wooden boardwalk around the island’s edge, passing through camellia groves and pine forests, with picturesque views of Gwangan Bridge and the sea.

Following lunch, collect the recipes to take home and proceed to Jagalchi Market, South Korea's largest seafood market. Observe the array of products on sale and experience the hive of activity where storekeepers are keen to sell the day's catch. Continue the afternoon with the colorful Gamcheon Cultural Village, known for the houses built in a tightly-knit fashion on the hillside, giving it the unique appearance. Originally, the area was with substandard living conditions, and settled by refugees fleeing from the Korean War. Then, it's time to sit back and relax on a cable car for a 1.62km journey (15-20 mins) across the ocean at a height of 86m. With the cable car traveling in the middle of the sea, enjoy panoramic views of Songdo Beach, Yeongdodaegyo Bridge, Namhangdaegyo Bridge, Songdo Coastal Dullegil Road and rock cliffs. Hop out of the cable car, follow the signs and head to Songdo Yonggung Suspension Bridge which connects Amnam Park to the small uninhabited island of Dongseom Island. Take in the 360 degree views of the ocean, cliffs and surrounding islands. Afterwards, head back to the hotel using public transportation.

Bid farewell to Busan this morning. Transfer to the airport (driver only, no guide) for a short flight to Jeju Island, a volcanic island renowned for its breathtaking natural landscapes. Upon arrival, meet with your guide and driver and transfer to the east side of Jeju Island, where you will have a quick lunch in a near-by restaurant. After lunch, attend a Haenyo demonstration performance, witnessing the legendary divers in action. Haenyeo are local women divers who use traditional methods and equipment to collect seafood and marine resources from the waters surrounding the island. Continue to Seongsan Ilchulbong, also known as Sunrise Peak, for a hike up this unusual geological wonder.? The leisurely hike takes around 40 minutes and rewards you with awe-inspiring vistas of the surrounding coastline and the mesmerising volcanic terrain. After enjoying the views, return on foot (40 minutes down) to the base of the peak. After hiking Seongsan Ilchulbong, your exploration of Jeju island continues with a visit to Jeju Haenyeo Museum.

No matter the route, the hike offers an up-close look at Jeju's oreums, the small volcanic cones that dot the island and a chance to connect with its serene, forested landscapes. Continue to Jusangjeolli Cliffs, known for their unique hexagonal basalt columns formed through volcanic activities. Through designated paths and platforms, you can enjoy the scenery and take photographs of this geological marvel. Next, visit Cheonjeyeon Waterfalls, also known as the "Pond of the Gods." This scenic site features a series of three waterfalls cascading through lush forested surroundings. The tranquil pools and overhanging cliffs create a serene and mystical atmosphere rooted in local legend.
