Take a trip to The Rocky Mountain States on your United States Vacation
The Rocky Mountain State, or Mountain States, is one of nine geographic divisions of the United States. They generally include those states in the region of the Rocky Mountains, including Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Arizona and New Mexico. The southern portion is often called the Southwest region, while the northern portion (Idaho and Montana) is often called the Northern Rockies. The terrain of the Rocky Mountain States is more diverse than any other region in the United States. Its physical geography ranges from some of the highest mountain peaks in the continental U.S.A. to large desert lands and rolling plains. The 3,000-mile Continental Divide National Scenic Trail runs through five of the Rocky Mountain States.
